Racist Experience with the Evo

I can't help but think cops here are slightly racist ... and making false assumptions and judgements ... and particularly on asians ...
I just needed to vent ... if u know wat im talking about then drop a line ...

you go to court its your word against his, and if the judge is racist then your screwed to.. sorry to hear this happened to you.. i know the feeling, i heard alot bull over the last 6 years of my career.. fellow workers, cops, d.o.t., other drivers. it sucks..

kinda telling...Although I'm sure I'm not exactly a role model But I agree that cop does sound like he's profiling/a racist. Just out of curiousity if the cover isn't that dark, why do you have it on in the first place?

Cops can do whatever they want so I avoid giving them reason to confront me like having illegal cosmetic modifications. I would file a report, or lawsuit if possible, for the racial profiling part though.

my white friends with evos get harrassed just as much as I do so it's not a race thing up here but an import car thing-unless the cops are assuming there's gonna be an asian guy in the car when they make the stops.

On the same note, I am a white male. I was pulled over on MLK Jr. day by an African-American who was quite aggitated about being at work. I was doing 32 in a 30 and got pulled over, questioned, car searched....nothing. So I get a ticket for 32 (which I got completely out of). This kind of BS happens to everyone unfortunately.

I completely agree that no matter what, even if you were giving him what he considers attitude, (And thats not to accuse you, just saying even if), the officer HAS TO BE RESPECTFUL of race, color, creed, etc. Do not accept anything less in that kind of situation. The law has privilages above that of citizenry. Everybody has off days, but when your given privilages ranging from fining people their hard earned dollars to shooting people, you've got to be respectful, plain and simple.
Contest the ticket. The officers name will be on it. If you can afford an attorney get one and put the screws to him. If the law wants you to respect it, they have to respect you.
I know there are a couple of officers that post here every now and again. I'd love to hear what you guys would think about something like this from an officers point of view.

There's no hate, actually, I was just bored and wanted to point that out cuz it made me laugh, and my best friend is chinese and he's had problems like this too in his WRX it blows, I love asian people driving asian cars

i haven't had any problems in my evo "yet", but when i still had my '02 ss i had the same smoke plate covers from pep boys and i was following a cop....ya i was doing the following ... and he had to see me laughing at the situation when he slowed & pulled off the road (like he was going to stop) so i passed and he got right behind me w/blues&reds. so i stopped & asked what the problem was when he tells me the same sh*t "its illeagl to have those covers on your plates". so i ask him why could i buy them if they're illegal???? he then tells me "marijuana pipes are illegal, but u can still buy them"....so since i was actually in front of my house i asked if i could go up to the garage, get a screwdriver and remove them. he chuckles and says NOPE you'll have to be sighted & have it sighned off later.... so i'm a little pissed & embaressed cause i'm in front of my house so i turn the music up a little to be a smart ***. he comes back to my window and tells me to turn down the music or he would sight me for that also($450)..i'm white, he was white, cops are just d*cks
