You get what you pay for, and right now I don't think Subaru has announced pricing on the STI. One thing that seems guaranteed is it won't be $28,900.

I spoke with a Subaru rep about 2 months ago, He said that there was no way the STI would be under $30K. He said base price should be around $32K. And I know this is just word of mouth, but if everyone hasn't noticed, the Subaru reps have been much more up-to-date and more knowledgeable about the release of the STI. Not that 'm knocking on , I think were getting a quality car with the EVO VIII, just the dealer reps, a little clueless.

No. I think you're neglecting to consider all the benefits. Compare it to the WRX. Compare it to a 2g GSX. You're getting far more and paying only a few thousand more.

How much do you think a good stroked motor would cost. I like the fact that we get the Sti and a bigger engine is nice and at first I was enthralled with these facts about the Sti but I really feel I should stick with the Evo. I think I'll wait till they test both before I make my decision. I think I'll still stick with the Evo though.

Claudius....so i can take the car out door with $29,000? I have seen EVO in person and it looks very nice. In the other hand my friend asked me to save few thousand bucks instead of EVO get a WRX which can be mod very easily. I'm confused!!!

WRX 24K
17" wheels and tires $1500
Suspention $1700
Brakes 4pod $700

You get the idea. Power mods and etc. Evo is a better deal! Recario, brembos, large duty FMIC. Twin scroll turbo charger, Awesome suspention, stronger driver train etc......

You get the point. Your friend is crazy for making such a suggestion.

both the WRX and the Evo are great deals. But they are at completly differnt price points.

WRX $24k
Evo $30k (probably with the big wing if it isn't included)

The Evo will probably whoop on the WRX stock vs stock, it's a more expensive car - and it should. A Z06 will whoop on an Evo (drag racing, track stuff) stock vs stock, and it should, it is $20k more expensive. A Viper will whoop on a Z06 stock vs stock... its all about the money people, the more you spend on a sports car, the more car you get - for the most part anyway, there are some bad deals out there, but the WRX and Evo certainly do not fall into that catigory.

name another car at under $30k that has these features that don't require replacement in a modded car - recaro seats, 13" 4 pot Brembo brakes, FMIC - these 3 items alone would run you $6k+ to upgrade in a WRX, RSX S-Type, etc - making those cars cost $30k and have less HP.

The Evo is a terific deal, as are both versions of the WRX - it just depends how much you want to spend.

HI ALL: Just so you know, I was at the l.a. auto show, where they had the STi and it's spec's, release date and price.

$38,500.

I walked over to the mitsu side and asked about the ACD/AYC evo and they had no idea if and when it would be released.

That has to be false. Subaru stated it would be in the low $30K price rang so at most it should be $34,999. I'm sure the site would also display this information if it were true, right?
