you can always buy a remote start which i bought on my 6speed TSX... just disconnect the clutch position sensor. Dangerous though if you habitually leave your cars in gear.

As did I, til I moved to california.

An engine block heater is the solution, but what you should do is let it idle for 2-3 mins then drive it slowly up to operating temp.

If there is snow all over the car, it's a plus. Start her up, then brush the snow off as you would normally, and hop into your warm *** car.

1) start and let idle for about 30 seconds

3) Drive the first 1-2 miles in first @ ~2000 rpms. The side streets by my house are small anyway.

This takes about 3-5 minutes and usually gets the engine warmed up enough to run a moderate load and get hot air from the a/c system. They key here is getting some load on the engine. It takes much longer to warm up by just idling. At the same time you don't want to put any serious load on it, nor do you want to get into boost.

you are retarded, yes. its detromental to run any sort of boost before the car is warm. it isn't really gonna hurt your 4runner or something, unless its frozen, but don't boost a car before its warm......you will regret it down the road.

not to mention, the car just runs like crap while its cold....let the darn thing warm up

A little off topic, but where the hell do you live that everyone is scared to install a remote starter?

and acutally its bad to let your car idle and warm up it wastes gas and can cause premature failure in the motor. the only way to warm a car up properly is to put load on the motor like someone already said. and the only ways to do that is either to throttle it above idle or drive the car. (but not enough to boost).

A turbotimer is a great solution. Use the same trick myself!
