Blown 20a Engine Fuse in Heavy Rain

Anybody out there have this problem.
I have an 03 with the optional dealer gage pack and a 02 sim. I've had this happend twice and switched out with a 25amp. I've only found one other person with this problem, but i think there may be more.

I've only blown out my 15amp fuse for the cigaratte lighter, but i found out that when i reinstalled my cig lighter than the connections touched thus frying the fuse.

Probably the O2 sim getting wet in the rain..... you should NEVER up the amperage of a fuse because it is blowing.... that is how you end up with an electrical fire instead of a blown fuse.

I would agree with this. I kept blowing #8 under the hood and finally tracked it to a short in the downstream O2 sensor.

If the sim is inside the car, did they leave any wires from the stock O2 sensor under the car? Jack it up and take a look and I bet you find something dangling down there that is getting wet in the rain and blowing that fuse.

how would you kjnow if a fuse was blown? I was driving in somewhat heavy rain when my car started to sputter and wanted to stall out. It hasn't run well since and I am trying to root cause it. This fuse might be a clue. How do you btell when a fuse blown? I have the vishnu set-up with the o2 simultor and i didn't remove the factory sensor.

If you blew this under hood fuse your car would stop running all together. I've hit it twice and it was real rainy with lot of puddles. I'm trying to think but I believe it is postion #8 in the under hood fuse box, there are two different 20amp spaces for the Engine.
Another person experienced this in the Southeast Forum so I've decided to see if anyone else has problems in the wet weather.

I have blown three #8 20A underhood fuses in the past three days. The first time it blew was in wet weather. The next two times it blew, in dry weather. I checked the 02 sensor on the intermidiate exhaust pipe, and it looked like it was touching the body (factory welded on 02 sensor wire holder flex metal). I repositioned the wires and bent the wire holders away from the exhaust pipe.

Exhaust expansion???

Just blew 3 #8 fuses but didn't check the front o2 sensor. It's very heavy rain. Happen to me a while ago and now is a recurring problem. Checking it at lunchtime

1. DISCONNECT THE CRANK SENSOR PLUG FOUND BEHIND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VALVE COVER
2. PLUG A NEW ENGINE FUSE IN
3. PLUG THE CRANK SENSOR BACK IN
4. TRY TO START.

After having my car down for about 3-4 days my friend came by and did this and it cranked with no problem. Made me look stupid...unknown what was the cause but I ended up changing my timing belt and water pump just to make sure. Also had a small non related issue with my starter. Got it cleaned out and it works fine now. SO BEFORE YOU GO CRAZY WITH THE DEALERSHIP try this process first. GOOD LUCK!
