For how many Evo daily drivers is the price of gas any consideration?

Before you flame me for even asking such a heretical question, I'm interested in the Evo DAILY DRIVERS, not the weekend or occasional track folks. So how high would gas prices have to get before you started to look askance at your Evo every morning before you started your 40+ mile commute to work? I just read that oil prices are going to continue to increase, and with the overwhelming demand from China (with no end in sight), I don't think we'll see cheap gas for awhile. My Eclipse requires premium gas (28 mpg), and the $300/month that I spend on gas makes me miss my Honda Civic (sometimes). I plan on buying the IX next year, but if it costs $3/gallon for premium fuel, well then...

I drive mine daily on Oahu but I only go through a tank a week which costs roughly $30-35. Even if it cost $100 a week I would still own it. Yeah gas prices are high, but am I going to give up something I love for the sake of a few bucks?

Oh and with my second job now, its 100+ miles a day.

Honestly I don't keep track. I just swipe the card and go. But probably around $240 a month.

I drive 80ish miles a day M-F, plus whatever fun things I want to do on the weekends. I figure I'm in the neighborhood of $250 a month on gas. The rising gas prices really **** me off, but there's not much I can do about it.

Heh, is there a subject you haven't touched upon yet? To be honest the evo to me is one of those cars that you KNOW you want to own. Gas prices, maintanence costs, insurance, etc is all secondary. If you are skeptical and examine every financial responsibility you will endure with its purchase, perhaps the Evo just isn't for you. Every time I drive my car to the gas station the grin on my face makes pumping gas an enjoyable event.

Well put. Though I may sound overly cautious and hesitant, I have a feeling that all of my common sense is going to fly out the window as soon as I get ready to buy. I ask these kinds of questions just cuz I have nothing else to ask (I know sh*t about auto mechanics and technical stuff). To me, who makes a decent living, and who spends so much time in the car, high gas prices are just a relatively small price to pay for enjoyment. I can just consider it "entertainment", I guess, and just make room for it my budget. So yeah, I'm all talk. I know I'm gonna cave when the time comes. Even $3/gallon gas most likely wouldn't dissuade me.

I don't think it's so bad if you're not always on the boost. The tank is small and that gets annoying. I used to have a modded 94 911 RS America with Carrera Cup susupension, and that thing ate up gas like a Hummer not to mention the oil changes$$$$$.

I always run on 100 or 101 octane. I can get 101 Trick gas for $4.25/gal. at a station near my ex-wife and kids' house. But the Union 76 stations in SoCal that carry 100 octane really gouge. I bought 1/2 a tank of 100 for $5.99/gal. today.
