i don't drive my evo everyday and every time i go out to start it it's dead. this was happening with the regular battery, and finally i didn't catch it in time and it drained totally - so i replaced the OEM battery with an odyssey pc680, so it should be ok even if it does drain out.

also, i:

1) closed all the doors tight
2) put my camera in the trunk and shut it to be sure the light goes out (i took the wing off and the trunk seems to sit a little high when it's closed - i thought maybe it wasn't pushing down on the light switch hard enough). watched the tape and i does go out.
3) turned the dome light off just in case

the only thing that's changed besides the wing being gone is i removed the IC sprayer tank and motor, so the harness that was connected to the sprayer motor is now just hanging loose.

what could be draining my battery? i'll take any suggestions - thanks!

 

check the alternator.. its probably a loose connection or its gone bad

 

try checking your battery connection. Make sure it is completely tight and secure. I know on my 3000gt I had the same problem. Turns out I didnt tighten the positive terminal enough. Another thing to check is to make sure the battery is made for your vehicle and pumps out
enough amps.

 

Do you have a turbo timer?

i forgot another factor:

my car was broken into and they cut up the alarm and sirens...

so basically the battery would hold a charge for 7 full days at a time at least and then, all around the same time:

1) the alarm wires were cut
2) i removed the wing
3) i removed the IC sprayer reservoir/motor

i think i'll try disconnecting the alarm from the battery (since the sirens are cut anyway) and see if the battery still drains down.

 

cool - i'll try that if disconnecting the alarm doesn't help.

 

This is excellent advice, if you are an electrican or have the knowledge to use the meter. The information provided is how I would trouble shoot the discrepency. The only I disagree with is the part about "maybe you'll have to learn to live with it." If all else fails, take it to an automotive electrical shop and have a professional look at it and give you his recommendations. I wouldn't "learn to live with it" I would fix it. FYI Calif has had weeks of rain and since I don't drive my Evo in the rain (cause I don't want to) the car sat for a couple of weeks at without it being driven and the car started right up. Any way enough yacking.
