Help!! installing Defi's

okay guys some quick questions for those who have installed their defi link control unit.

Did you guys splice the power wires into the ecu wires or did you just find some other 12volt source like the lighter plug to splice into..

i'm just wondering what wires I should splice into

I need splice the following wires..
-12v battery wire
-12v wire when ignition is on
-12v when small lamp is on
-ground

any that could tell me which wires the spliced I would really appreciate it

Chris

Do not splice into the ECU wiring. You can simply used wiring from your radio harness or some wiring nearing the parking brake console.

here are the directions from the link..

Defi WireStock WireConstant Power (Red)
»Black w/ Red Stripe on Radio Harness

Black w/ Red Stripe on Radio HarnessGround (Black)
»Black Wire from Cigarette Lighter

Black Wire from Cigarette LighterIgnition On (Orange)
»Red Wire from Cigarette Lighter

Red Wire from Cigarette LighterIllumination (White)
»Green w/ White Stripe Wire from Cigarette Lighter

okay here is the problem..

"constant power (red)...

it says use the stock black wire/red stripe on radio harness (I dont have a mostly black/red stipe. I have a black/yellow or a red/black (maybe 05's are different then 03-04)

also my cigarette lighter didnt have a red wire, only a orange one so I used that (hope that correct)

which wire off my radio should i use? or is there another constant power wire somewhere else I could use?

Well I got it done, and let me say... these guages are awesome!!!!

since none of my wires were the same color as the ones in the write up, I just went to lowes and bought a volt meter.

I will post pics up later as soon as I can find a server that is free. (I already went over my bandwith on photobucket)

thanks for you help everyone

I had the same problem. I believe the Defi's just use that wire to determine when the lights are on and are assuming that you will adjust the brightness using the control unit.

my guages only light up when My lights are on... is there a different wire that i can hook up so that I can see the guages during the day and still have my driving lights off?

Also, I cant control the dimming with my car dimmer, I have to use the control unit

check your wiring with a multimeter. they should light up when on, regardless, and dim when you turn your lights on.
