Whoa. I wonder what would happen if somebody actually bid. Would they be able to sue if the seller wasn't able to come up with the ferrari?
Will ferrari even let people resale their F1 cars?

Yes you can buy a formual 1 ferrari, but they ussually don't sell them until 5-6 years after the season they raced in. This pretty much eliminates the possibility that any of their technology will be stolen (i.e. it take every one else 2-3 years to figure out what they are doing, but by 5 or 6 they all pretty much know). 1.5mill would actually be a pretty reasonable price for a 95' f1 ferrari from what I've seen. There was 1998 ferrari that I saw auctioned recently for 1.2mill without engine. That's the catch by the way, generally the engine is sold seperately from the rest of the car and can easily cost as much as the chassis/suspension/aero componants/gearbox.

I wouldn't be the least suprised if they add a clause to the sale that prohibits you from reselling on the open market. Don't you even have to store the cars at THEIR garage?

No you could buy couple year old F1 cars, F1 teams develops their "next season" car in the current season so right now they are already working on 2006 spec cars(which btw will be V8 now, booooo). Also the year of the cars are irrelevant since the cars continue to evolve as the season goes on, every race their new development so having a model year for an F1 machine is just a technicality thing.
Here is an article about buying a F1 car: http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1
