I'm being respectful bro. No harm done. Just curious if you were coming to race your car and yes it will be one helluva weekend. There will be some pretty quick car's there for this event. Sorry if I came across the wrong way.

Yeah Smoggy told me you got your problems with holding boost worked out. Good luck and I bet that 500 + whp Z was a blast back in the day.

yeah, can hold 25psi at redline if i want. right now, got it tapering from 26 to 20 at 7800. if that don't work, ill hold more at redline. gonna be more of a drag tune than i had before. hell i ran a 12.4 flat on 93octane with 22psi falling to 17psi before 7k.

and yes, the Z was a blast. swore i would never sell it. BUT, i got tired of dealing wtih old car issues(ie. old wiring, hoses, lines, ect..) AND my wife got pregnant so i needed a backseat so i wouldn't get stuck at home when she was gone in the family ride.

so i got the best compromise money could buy. a beast with a backseat.

only raced the Z on street tires though with a best time of 12.1. so 11s will be completely new to me.

Group of Z owner out here and the slow ones run low 12s. Many in the`11s and a couple in the 10s. FWIW i always trapped a lil low also but i was still able to run 12.2s-12.3s at 110-111mph. I only had a 100 oct tune on my car so Smoggy always trapped 2 mph better. However my 1/8 ths were better on a consistent basis and I have 5 timeslips that beat his best ET with his 1+. He has flipped the script on me as of late as I have trapped 118-120 mph to his 114-115mph but his Et is alil better. Kinda sux.

Go for it. BTW 330 whp on Andrews Dyno should put you in the ballpark for 11s with a 1.6 60ft. Good luck. Someday I will post a respectable #.

huh

message for the original poster, nice run! if the guy in the supra was really putting down 440whp and could only muster a 14sec eta there was something wrong or he has no idea what he's doing..... i have a friend that has a n/a mk4 with a few mods, that turns high 13's!!!!

i have a question for you though, i take it your not using a stock clutch or are you?
next time you launch the car pick a rpm you want to launch at and stay there, then slip the clutch, or if you have a aftermarket that clutch can take it, dump it!!!!!
don't feather the gas like you were, it's to inconsistent.....it will help i promise!!!

ps: always like to see vid's, keep'em coming!!!!

Reving used to work for me. I have not tried the steady hold technique since I have had success with the rev method. Also dumping an aftermarket clutch depends on what clutch IMO and in most cases a no no.

I got 6 runs in that night, each run I tried a different launching method. The first 4 runs were done holding revs at a specific rpm and then slipping the clutch. The last 2 were done feathering the throttle at different rpms. The 12.5 race was done feathering from 4k rpm to 6k rpm. To give you an idea of the improvement this made:

fastest time holding revs @ 6k rpm and slipping:
1.934 60'
12.824 1/4 @ 106.44

feathering throttle @ 4k-6k rpm and slipping:
1.754 60'
12.544 @ 107.36

The reason for this is if you feather the throttle, your creating boost while standing still... the idea behind this is if you can generate boost right before you launch, you'll essentially be launching being already partially spooled... rather than holding revs and being in very low boost, or even vacuum. Special thanks to Giovanni aka IHATEPORSCHE for giving me great launching recommendations.

BTW, yes, I have a 100% stock clutch. Thank you for the compliments. Later today, I'll post up a vid of me vs a mod'd STi @ the same track, with me using the 6krpm rev and hold launch.

I owned a Supra auto that made 400whp twin turbo, ran mid 12's. put a small single on it after a turbo blew, ran much slowereven with 446whp. On an auto Supra putting a small single on without a high stall torque converter will kill et's. I am betting this is the situation with this car. He is probably an auto that would run low 12's to high 11's with a 4000 stall torque converter.

Oh, and I'm sure this race was staged too, like *all* my races, right? (referring to my other vs Supra thread)
Have you ever thought you are a better driver?
I could show you what my supra does with 440 whp.
