i tried what dejontool had on there website to see how your car acts to VTA.. "we recommend you try "dumping" on your car with your present BOV by removing the BOV recirc hose, plugging the intake return tube with a film can or covering with duct tape, and drive the car." i tried that and i have no problem at all... no idle problem or anything.. i think the tial will work with me..

the point of recircing back to the intake is that it is BEFORE the mass air sensor. If you recirc back into the upper IC pipe, you might as well not recirc at all.

Dont take this the wrong way, but the point of recirculating the bov is because it is after the mass air sensor because the air is already metered so you want to keep that air inside the system or the ecu will think its there but its really not. The recirc tube is after the mass air meter. If it was before, you would be metering the air twice.

However, venting it back into the upper IC pipe is pointless because you are defeating the purpose of the bov. The bov vents the air from the Upper IC pipe.

UH, wrong padre. The BOV recircs the air to the intake tube BEFORE the mass air. Go look, then come back and talk to me.

I dont have any pics of a stock evo under the hood so I will use the next best thing. Go to the link below and look at all the intake pipes for sale for evos. They have the recirc tube after the Mass air meter. The only thing that is before the meter is the air filter or the stock air box if you still have it.

you are 100% correct, and i am completely retarded.

don't even have to look at the pics to realize what i was saying was waaay off.

talking faster than thinking will get you every time. sad part is, ive swapped all kinds of hoses and filters and pipes all over under there.

Correct. a lot of people use a custom Upper IC pipe with aftermarket BOV (Buschur for Example. HKS also sells a ver 2 HKS SSQV thats mounted on a polished Upper Intercooler pipe.

As for VTA - every car is different. I have an HKS SSQV thats VTA (Which I'm selling with EVO REIRC KIT AND EVERYTHING EVEN INTAKE PLUG - Shameless plug - check the private for sale section) - and it dosnt surge or make me idle funny or stall.

My car is an 04 ... if that makes any different .. I've tried it on 3 different EVO's 03-05 ... No problems ... Some people swear by the EIDS - I suggest you get the BOV first (buy mine) and if you are having those problems - then opt for a EIDS or be happy with a RECIRC valve (Greddy Type-S/RS)... You can still hear the PSSSHH if you get an aftermarket intake that replaces the stock airbox ...

thanks for the info..i already have the Tial BOV and just looking for the helix IC package... mine is a 04... i tried plugging the induction bov tube and removing the bov out of it and driving the car... the car runs with no problem at all! and the sound is unique also.. no idle, no stalling problems... i guess every evo is different.. i might not even need a EIDS
