2005 Evo8 Tranny Woes
Either have Jon from TeamRip or John Sheppard from Sheppard racing fix and upgrade your tranny. The rest of your car is fine and once you fix the tranny it will be in perfect order .... You play you pay ..... This is why I don't mod, can't afford it.

i had the lightweight and I had them put in the tranny. I've sold to people before and they've used it in the tranny and supposedly loved it. IDK, whatever the case may be I might get a new one or maybe something else, like a g35 or sumthin. IDK yet.
the craziest thing about this is that I originally brought them the car for a small problem in 5th gear and at that time every other gear was perfect. since they've touched it i've had nothing but problems with the rest of the tranny. Its not like I beat my car until it falls apart. I had a slind 5th gear grind and since they've touched it the rest of the tranny has been a POS. I'll update this week when we see what happens

What if they just gave you a whole nother frickin' tranny??
It's obvious the morons are too incompetent to repair this one...for God's sake, they put the synchro's in BACKWARDS or something, you said??? WOW....
So yeah.... :/
Good luck, man. :[

When you get your tranny.....just put stock fluids untill your sure of its operation. Stick with the straight weight 90 GL5 for the transfer....poor t-case, they recieve allot of abuse and they thirst for the right fluids.
To sum up, purchase the tranny from TRE or whoever; then install at the dealer (i hope that they dont screw that up but highly unlikely...they arnt touching in inside of it); then make sure the correct fluids are inserted.....micromanage the whole procedure.

OK...have them drop and install the tranny under warranty labor...send yours into TRE for a rebuild. It will cost the "dealership" less doing that way.
Advatages:
1) You get a tranny you know has been looked at and rebuilt with eagle eyes...
2) You could get another mal-assembled (for lack of a better word
) tranny from a pool of Mitsu tranny's out there....so your better off not getting a new one.

NOLIM, your dealer sounds like he has a very undertrained tech doing his trans work. It took the tech less than 20 minutes to change my clutch and f/W as I stood and watched while he did the job. My trans was out on his bench since he was in the process of doing the 5th gear syncro TSB so I was not charged a dime for the clutch job (Love my ACT and Fidanza BTW). The fact that the tech admitted to putting a synchro in backwards does not speak well for his skill but does indicate that you are being delt with honestly and earnestly. I would go chat with the service mgr about what your options are at this point. Be mindful that some dealers will not touch a modified car since some mods violate Fed or State regs. BTW I have had a total of three warranty trans jobs on two of my four Mitsus since "00." All turned out OK but I had to exert pressure in one instance. Good luck and I hope you don't give up a great car over a resolvable service problem.
