My dealer said for sure the opening commercial was running during the super bowl. Now I don't know if he is telling the truth, but he has been right so far on everything he told me. It is sad I will be paying more attention to the commercials than to the game. I have a Q though. If the production #'s are so low on this car, Why spend 2 mil on a commercial.

Since I am from the bay area I am going for Oakland, but it would
really be nice if the Evo VIII showed and Oakland won. Too bad
SF is not there though.

According to my local newspaper, Mitsubishi isn't having an ad in the superbowl. My local newspaper listed all the ads appearing in the superbowl.

That sucks But I saw them sponsor the college football all-star game today on NBC. They had the Blue by You Evolution VIII and Outlander there. That was cool looking at that Blue Evo VIII on TV.

shize! blue! I wish I had known about that. I really want to see some good pictures of the blue, or even better see a blue in person. I wouldn't mind seeing a yellow in perosn either.

The production numbers aren't low, the initial release numbers are low. Kinda like what happened with PS2 when it first came out. I'm pretty sure that whoever has the cash and wants an evo will get one. This is a limited release, not a limited production. There is a big difference, and this has been discussed before.

As for why spend 2 mil... they've spent MORE than that in the last week, probably, on lil' Lancer commercials alone. The Outlander commercial set a record for amount of money spent on single vehicle campaign and air time. Money isn't a problem, not when compared to the amount of exposure garnered from the money spent.

I think we'll see it nonetheless. Just a feeling.

Mitsubishi hasn't said boo to my store about any commercials for the Evo and I think there is a reason for that.

Just like the Diamante and Mirage, Mitsubishi plans to spend roughly $0.00 marketing the car. The difference is, unlike the former two cars, the Evo does a fine job marketing itself.

Let's think about this logically for a moment. Your a marketing guy for and you've got all-new programs coming in Febuary (oops, shouldn't a' said that) and Endeavor coming within a month of the Evo. Where would you put the advertising dollars?

I'd put it behind driving up the anticipation of a 30K sportcar flagship. You know, lose the frumpy image that Mitsu has been shedding for the last few years, and lose it for good. But, what do I know? I'm just Joe Q. Public that has to be told what he'd like to see.

No commercial happened, that really blew. I am pissed I waited through every commercial break to see it. And now I read that they are pushing the release date to march. I am pissed, and Mitsu is the devil.

Is in it better if there is no commercial? if there is, there would be millions of people watching the commercial and remember that this car is a limited production car. put these two things together and maybe most of us wont be getting an evo

Why are people mad that there was no commercial? It makes no sense to me! A commercial is nothing more than an unneeded expense to Mitsu when they know full well that their Evo's will sell without one. And a multimillion dollar comercial is needed even less!

If anything it may appear as a short snippet within a normal Lancer commercial...but there certainly will never be Evo only commercials.

You don't see Porsche commercials....You don't see dodge Viper specific commercials...you don't see Acura NSX ones either. Each is it's companies "Halo" image car btw

The companies know full well that the cars will sell on their own merit and performance. And that they don't need to beat people over the heads to get the desired corporate effects of these "halo" vehicles.
