I can't locate my user's manual... can anyone tell me how many gallons aproximately are left inside the tank right when the orange gas light comes on? Appreciate it.

pi* 1.75 gallons.

I usually get about 2 gallons left when I fuel up. Keep in mind the 14 gal is the capacity of the tank. does not include the lines and the filler neck.

Mine seems to go on with about 3 - 3.5 gallons left. I wouldn't be surprised if the sender doesn't have quite a bit of variance from Evo-to-Evo, so probably the only way for you to tell is to get to a gas station right after your light goes on, and fill up. 14 - what you put in is how much is left when the light goes on.

OK. related question... When I'm pumping gas sometimes the gas station will leave the catch on the pump so you don't have to hold the lever the whole time you pump. When it's full it clicks off. When they remove the catch (to avoid spill/ overfilling) I just jam the gas cap in between the lever and the pump handle.

In the evo, very often when I'm pumping gas, the lever on the pump will repeatedly click off like it's full even when I just begin pumping on an empty tank. I think it must have to do with the vapor recovory systems on pumps now but this is the first car I had that this has been a problem. Does anyone know how this works or experienced anything like this?

I've noticed the same thing if i keep my car on while they pump. I dont know if you noticed the same thing but it might be the problem.

Usually pumps stop when there is a backpressure coming up the filler on the tank. when it senses backpressure it stops.

It happens to me a lot when it's really cold outside. Not at all when it's warm.

And I can drive about 45 miles on the freeway after the gas light comes on. I drive Chicago-Ann Arbor a lot and the light comes on a lot. Call me Kramer!

All I know is that when the needle hits the top of the E, you need to get gas ... RIGHT NOW!!! Proof that my Evo does run on fumes \/
