Evo might be here sooner

I got off the phone earlier with mitsubishi @ cypress Cali. One rep said to hold after I asked her about release date. She said she would asked her supervisor cause she didn't know. When she got back on the phone she told me 8 feb 03. I found that hard to believe so i called back 1 hour later and i got the same answer from somebody different this one told me that they were already here just can't be released until feb 8 03. I called 888 648 7820

That's probably the date dealer pricing and other such mundane items get released. Doesn't reflect actual ship dates for cars, which have already been published here too many times.

I've heard a pretty much confirmed statement as to why the delay is here. I'm going to confirm it through a couple more sources and then I'll post it.

There probably in an emergency redesign to put AYC/ACD in the car to match up what Subaru put in the STi, thats why its taking so long to hit dealer floors...

...Its a nice dream if that were really true

No, no, you got it all backwards. They are redesigning the transfer case so that it leaks and locks up. Then they are going to make you have to go to a Mitsubishi Authorized shop to get it fixed and get overcharged. If you go anywhere else, they will void your warranty. When everyones starts to find out that the transfer cases are locking up, they will issue a "recall". However, if you ask them to fix it for you, they will try to find evidence of your racing on the web and wont reimburse you for the cost.

Oh yeah, I'm sure they can integrate that into cars that have already been built with only a 3-week delay.

Post what you've got...

Just label it as an unconfirmed rumor... we'll go easy on you if it doesn't turn out to be 100%...

Pretty solid rumor, or statement now. Turns out that they're having a hard time coming up with the Carbon Fiber wings... The supplier that they're getting the wings from is only able to produce 2-3 wings per business day. It takes a reported 200 minutes per wing for total completion, which is quite a long time for a manufacturered part.

I think they may have shipped the cars to the states without the wings and are "port installing" the wings.

I kinda expected this, since afterall this is the very FIRST production car with any sort of wing like this.

Jeeze, funny, just give me the wing later. I just hope they don't add all the installation labor to our MSRP. It's pretty much confirmed under 30K with the wing right? SO i should expect under 31K with that stupid sunroof?

Thanks for investigating this issue for us but that factory producing 3 wing per day is hard to believe.

I do believe it's a wing issure thougth. It makes sense now why Mitsubishi haven't announced the MSRP with the wing. The wing price TBA. They probably calculate the cost and tack to our price. I still dont' see why it's been pushed back for almost a month. Hopfully they are just giving themselves more time and actually arrive mid FEB?

My dealer said the delay is due to a change in release strategy by Mitsu. They want to be able to have one car in every dealers lot by whatever date they deem the new "release date" to be. Where before the only dealers that would have cars upon the release date were the dealerships that scored highest on their Customer Satisfaction Index scores.

This may be correct. I know that the supplier initially told Mitsubishi they would not be able to privide as many wings as Mitsubishi wanted to order. This possibly, is why there is a "small wing" option.
