S-AFC 2 and Dyno flash
I just bought a S-AFC 2 and I'm hearing that it isn't a safe tune. Many people say that a dynoflash is safer and more reliable. But i just bought the thing and I want to get my money's worth. Someone please help me out. My mods are DP, exhaust, K/N intake and grounding kit.
If you are new to tuning, a piggy back fuel computer like the S-AFC 2 can be a dangerous item. Since it overrides the factory fuel signal, you can lean out your fuel mix enough to cause detonation, knock, pinging, or run like a rich pig.
A dynoflash changes the factory rich settings to a more realistic a/f mix, while still allowing the factory ECU to modify the mix based on elevation, ambiant air conditions, etc. thereby still protecting the motor from the dreaded lean condition.
Now, you can use the S-AFC 2 in conjunction with the flash. I would flash first and use the AFC when you are ready to tune (at a shop, on a dyno, with a wideband O2 sensor)
