Evo 8 Vs S2000
I have owned both cars. And between the two the S2000 is a funner car. I like the Evo's power and handling no doubt but the S2000s only weakness is lack of power. Besides that the S2000 drove like it was on rails. And I cannot say that about the Evo even though the handling is one of the best. (Comparing between stock suspensions)
But my most favorite to drive is the NSX period! And I have driven many different cars. Nothing like seeing the road 2 feet ahead of your feet and a 8000 rpm vtec engine roaring behind you. (Also the biggest weakness is lack of power)

The S2K is a great car, handles very very well and can keep up with more powerful cars because of the suspension setup. They are fun little cars and I like them a lot. My girlfriend wants one so hopefully it can be in the same garage as my EVO

The evo trust me...when people start making smarty butt comments about it and you start to feel bland and the same in it (if it ever happens) stick on the next mod...and do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds on a G-tech Pro RR
I have never owned an S2000, but I have driven one....I think they are a more fun car to drive. The Evo is faster and a is an overall better performing car, but the S2000 is a really fun car. It is almost like driving a motorcycle...just not as much power. I think the S2000 is a better looking car as well. Good luck on your choice.
I have owned both.
My reason for switching was practicality, the S has none. If you get an MBC on the Evo to get rid of the boost taper, then the Evo's powerband is alot more fun. Like someone said on here, "VTEC- all the lag, none of the turbo"... The handling is close, but Im willing to sacrafice alittle grip for AWD, but I have POS tires on my Evo now, and once I get nice ones on there Im sure it will blow the S's handling out of the water.
Two things I miss about my S- The Evo is not built like a Honda, few cars are. You will have to get used to rattles and noises. And two, the Evo doesn't have the class and looks of the S. Both cars get looks, but most people are in awe of the entire car when it comes to the S, while most other people gawk over the huge red brakes, wing and so forth on the Evo.
If I had the chance to do everything over again, I definitely would.
Another thing you have to consider is power. If you're not pleased with how fast the S is stock, and you don't want to spend 5,000 on a supercharger, then give up. Bolt on's don't do a thing on the S, and modifying it is very costly.

For driving fun nothing beats topless. The Evo is a four door compact sedan, different in evey way and for different purposes. I like to play in my garage and machine shop so the Evo is a great platform for me. As an old Elan S2 fan ("the car that Clark drives" my he R.I.P.), I will have a Lotus before I am put out to pasture.
i have driven both, also driven a sc s2000 as well as a n/a one and i would have to say go with the evo. don't know how tall you are, but i am 6'2 and after a couple of hours in the s2000 my legs would start to cramp up from not enough room to move. s2000 is a fun car but as far as picking from the two from a whole, go for the evo.

Anyway, Ive driven an S2000, they are fun, but like someone else said, ya really have to drive it like you stole it to get that 10 fun factor out of it. The EVO is fun to drive anywhere over 2800rpm! Plus, I just prefer AWD!
I had a deposit on an S2000. I loved the car. Before I bought it though, I knew the Evo just arrived. So I went down to Mitsubishi and test drove the Evo. So here I am as an Evo owner. By the way our Vtec is the Turbo. It kicks in around 4000rpm
Stays that way to redline.

When that vtec kicks in at 9000 rpm (1st gen), you could feel all the power just pouring in all at once and it's different from turbo kick. it's more violent.
You can't go wrong with either one, but if you want something with AWD and space, i would go with an evo.
convertible driving, can't beat that though. The spring is here, finally.

Vtec kicks in at 6000rpm, not 9000. No, it is no turbo. It is very far from a turbo. It barely put a dent in my seat when it kicked in during my drives. Hate to say it, the acceleration 'felt' like a civic's. The sound note change is the only thing that makes it 'seem' like it's going faster, but Vtec is like a hiccup, sorry.
Overall, they are really two totally different cars. On an autox course, the Evo is in a higher stock class than the S2000. Even though the S2000, IMO, is just as capable as the Evo on that track, not very many people could tame that car well.
Drive both and you will have your answer. I can't tell you how happy I feel every time I drive my evo compared to anything else I have driven. This is coming for someone who has had there evo for 2 YEARS.
apples to oranges, if it will be your only car evo, hands down. if you have more than one car and want a weekend car that is fun, s2000. why dont you get the s2000 and evo/sti, this seems to be a very common combination.
well first off where do u live? if you live in florida, miami, st pete beach, (any beach) cali and your not lookin to drag race, i would def go with the s2000. its one sexy beast, but what sucks is 2 seater compared to 4 door. honda s2000 hasssss 150 lb/tq?
very gay. ruined the car i say. if your lookin to do donuts, show off, hear the turbo wind up (mmmmm) bov, and just a kick *** car.....go with the EVO

btw, how do you like the RS? I dont plan on getting one as a daily driver, so the RS seemed almost a perfect option and a steal for 27.5k.
