Evan, are the fittings pretty strong? Im alittle weary of hanging the sender off the oil pump that far.

The oil pressure fitting is rock solid. We machine the adaptor portion from a solid steel 3/8" BSPT plug. The 45 is brass, but is also quite strong. You won't have any problems. The reason the 45 is needed is to clear the subframe. We would have the sender screwed directly into the oil filter flange if we could.

Evan, how does the new plate mount to the dash? I have the first generation (I was one of the first buyers, if you remember) and the mount is very flimsy. Does this one bolt up to the stock radio mounting points? If so, I'd like to order one.

Emre - the new mount is a million times better than the old. The old was just the VW panel affixed to the outside of the console. At that time customers were happy to just have that din panel.

The new panel installs from the back of the console. Check out this picture:

You can see how the face of the panel is smaller in size than the rear. With the console out of the car, all you need to do is slide our panel in from the rear. There are 2 clearance notches in place to clear the upper mounting tabs od the console. The panel fits tight and flat. With the panel in place, add your gauges and tighten the mounting brackets of the gauges up. The bezels overhang the panel and sit firmly on the console. With 3 gauges in place, 6 portions of the bezels assist in clamping the panel in place. The mount is rock solid and requires no extra tape or any other BS.

Hope this helps,

Evan
