Wow thats gay, I always use a signal when changing lanes, or making turns in non-specific lanes, but I usually turn off my blinker when I'm in a left turn only lane simply cause it gets on my nerves.

OH REALLY?! well on the MD drivers test I got that question wrong because I said that you have to signal. But infact the answer was " In an only direction lane signal is not nessisary. I was like WTF forreal. Ive never heard of somebody getting a ticket or even stoped for that! Now if its changing lanes on a Highway thats a different story. YOU might want to point out to the judge that you are always getting stoped for things that arent even important.Originally Posted by UT_Evo

i got a ticket for not signaling. told the district attorney that my blinker was out. he asked if i fixed it yet. i said "yes" and he said "dismissed". just had to waste 2 hours of my time.

Another quick story...He gave me a ticket for speeding on a highway connector ramp, but only gave it for 5 over.. (60 in a 55) SO STUPID@!??! From now on I just merge on the highway at 55mph and gun it.. ROFL.. sorry for venting too.
The rule I remember from drivers ed class is one car length for every 10mph. I don't know if that's what cops go by, but if that's what they follow as a guideline you should've been 3 car lengths behind the guy in front of you (to be within the law). They could nail a million people a day with following too closely if they wanted to. I'd just tell the cop next time that you have the fastest stopping car in the world and you weren't even close to following too closely. Originally Posted by wiretap

About the on-ramp speed: I was under the impression that the speed limit on them is whatever the highway speed limit is that you're merging onto. It doesn't make sense you have to wait till you're on the next highway to pick up speed. That just causes an accordian effect. I'll bet the cops wrong on that one.

Hi all,
Jumping in, gonna get wet here
... In general, yes, even when in doubt use turn signals ...
Let's say this was a merger type road that was more like an Interstate where if you are in a certain lane, you may end up making an ever so slightly left turn and that lane was really well marked both on the road, by the lights, and by everybody else not using a turn signal, then its probably ok that a turn signal is not used.
A slight antithesis to this argument is if you were actually entering a full on lighted intersection with a left turn lane that you had to pull into before, and you probably should turn your signal on to get to the lane, and then keep it on. Like the author said, he might have had it on, but he didn't remember ... now if he did remember using his signal going into 7-11 or something, I would make the court argument in getting the cop to testify that you used your signal going to the store ... and then that should provide ample evidence that you do use your turn signals often enough to be found not guilty.
After the trial, I would get one of those free case evaluation appointments with an attorney, and show that you've been pulled over an excessive amount of times, and see if the attorney's office would be willing to sue on your behalf, at least the police department. They might (ever so slightly) do it on a no-cost other than your time to testify that you've been harrassed.
Remember this is not legal advice, just my simple opinion.
Good Luck,
jcnel.

Lose the stupid wing and change out the Altezza tailights. The car will not only be less noticeable, but it will be faster in the quarter mile.

In reply to CDO:
Yea, 10mph for a car length. That is correct. On the ticket the officer wrote I was 1 foot away from the guy's bumper in front of me. That is what pissed me off.. then I tried to tell him I was at least a full size pickup truck length away and he said "DON'T ARGUE WITH ME SON!?!" lol.. I took it to court and I lost.. god that was stupid. I tried to argue in court that it was a bad judgement call on behalf of the officer for not being at the correct angle to see how far away I was from the person in front of me. =/
