the only "clunk" I get from my Evo is under really hard accel and a super-fast shift the car makes a rather hard CLUNK... It doesn't feel like its being very kind to my tranny. :\

I've got almost 33k miles on mine, and 2nd gear has the random clunk since day one. It'll do it with any kind of shift, slow or fast, high revs or low revs. Actually, it seems to shift better in the upper range. It's when I'm accelerating and shifting just normally in traffic it seems to do it the most. I've had stock fluids in since day 1, only mods are the shifter bushings, if you can consider those mods.
