Evo just saved my life

Well, so around 7:30 tonight, i was on my way to the pet store and I'm taking one of my favorite roads. This road has a 90 degree lefthander that I usually take going about 45mph (a little fast, I know.) So everything is going fine, I brake down from about 70, turn in and it's business as usual. Around the corner comes a Saab wagon on my side of the lane. So I dip the wheel right to avoid him but in the process, I upset the midcorner balance of my car and my car shoots off the road into the grass.

This grass ispretty muddy and I'm on my stock advans, so needless to say I start losing traction immediately. I'm sliding around probably still doing about 40mph braking like crazy and fighting the steering. There are two trees in this patch of grass and I figure that this is it and that I've had it. I step on the gas and countersteer surprisingly, the car grabs a little and straightens out. I manage to avoid the first one, but the 2nd one I clip with the front left fender.

I come to a stop and I get out to inspect the damage.and to my surprise the only damage is that the front left fender is slightly crumpled and the front left side ofthe bumper is scraped. The suspension seems fine, no damage to any of the wheels or tires I can see (pretty muddy and dirty though). So I take a couple seconds to thank god and I drive to the pet store.

Moral of the story is, I am going to take that left hander at 25mph from now on and that I am never going to doubt the handling abilities of this car again.

Glad you're okay, in the middle of a fast corner is usually not a good time for a surprise.

Thought about it

Honestly after the incident, I just drove off. I wasn't shaken up, but things were a little surreal, like it didn't really happen. I just couldn't believe that it had happened, last thing on my mind was turning around and chasing down that Saab. Besides, I was going too fast, sure he shouldn't have been on my side of the road, but if I was going half my speed, it wouldn't have been a problem.

To make a long story short. It was a hit and run on a rainy day at the canyons. I slid and hit the side mountain inbankment and slid off the road into a ditch. Car rolled 3 times. I only suffered a major headache and a cut with stiches on my left hand. Its all good now. Getting a new one this weekend.
