Please check this sticker for me VIN

Fellow EVO owners:

I was looking over my Evo today, and found something that appeared to be a little fishy, so I am asking you to take a look at something for me.

If you open your drivers front door, there is a rectangle sticker at the lower bottom right of the opening. I've attatched a picture of mine so you know what to look for. It appears to have VIN number on it. Does this number match the VIN of your car?

Thanks
Robb

yes it should. There was a recall/tsb on those stickers cause they had the wrong weight info on them. The dealership may have put the wrong sticker on your car.

Cool- Only reason I was worried is because I just bought the vehicle used- And I was afraid there was something fishy going on. All the other VIN numbers match, but I was looking for the paint code today and found that one, and said "That's not my VIN number!!!!". I was going to register the car today, but wanted to make sure it was no biggie before signing the title into my name.

Haha. I think the sticker has to be on the outside of the vehicle to get your +5HP....

After you bought it, take it back to Mitsubishi and have them order the correct VIN label for you it should cover in the recall.. you don't want to have a wrong label with someone VIN in your car.

This almost happened to me. The dealership caught the error in VIN number on the replacement sticker for the recall and reorded the sticker. You want to get one with the right VIN so it doesn't look like parts were replaced on the vehicle.

It should match the VIN on the dash. If it doesn't then request a new one with the correct info. Did you buy this car new? There is an open recall for the corrected label to be replaced. Make sure that the correct VIN is on the form that they fax to corporate and by the way, how has the new transmission been performing?

Nope, didn't buy it new, but every other VIN on the car matches except for the hood (which I was told about.....) I'll go to my local dealer and see if they can get the right sticker.....

Not sure I'm following you on the transmission?

The VIN on the label had a transmission replaced at 3k mile. UNDER WARRANTY!! That particular VIN also has the label recall open. There is n/c for the correct label.

Did you run a carfax on that VIN? I would be interested to see it. I guess if I had a tranny go out at 3k I would expect it to be replaced under warranty, also!

Anyway, the guy I bought my car from stopped at his dealer (he is in Racine, WI and I am in Davenport, IA so I had him stop and chat with them) and the dealer had the correct sticker sitting on his desk. He was just waiting for him to come back down because they realized they had put the wrong one on. He gave him the sticker and supposedly it is in the mail to me

If you have access to service history I would be interested to see it on the car I bought, if you don't mind running another one Mine is the same except the last numbers, 123550.

And no wonder he has the label recall open, *I* have his label. Wonder if I'll be able to peel the old one off....
