Fried Clutches
I just read in a magazine about how Mitsubishi aint covering all the fried & toasted Evo 8 clutches out there (as low as 3,000 miles) when this happens. WTF! And that we can remedy this by purchasing yet another aftermarket part (that produces less heat or somethin?). Is this situation about these clutches that bad???
the heat caused by launching just destroys the stock clutch. if you launch alot, it'll go straight to hell. Aftermarket clutches can hold up to the heat better and/or grab more lessing the slippage. i've heard of clutchs being burnt out before 2000 miles. i have 15000 miles and am fine.

The stock clutch is fine for normal, sane, everyday use. Many drivers have had zero problems with it.
It should also be noted that the clutch is the weakest link in the powertrain for a good reason -- to make the weakest link the cheapest link. Would you rather replace a clutch or a transfer case?
I'm @ 22,000 miles with no problems.

I agree that it is base on how you drive but you gotta admit that MIT should have made the clutch stronger and last longer. Excuse to void a warranty. First the clutch then the TC

Why should it last longer and be stronger? There are plenty of people who have had their clutches last a reasonble amount of time. It's tough to even say that now, since we don't have a lot of high mileage EVOs. I think there are a couple that have gone past 60,000 miles and still have a fully functioning stock clutch.

is the same as the EVO they will be out of business. Just look at the # of compliants, unsatisfy customer vs the number of cars that was built. Sad to say that a company is not measure by number of cars that made it over 60K miles but by the number of cars that didn't, defect, complaints. It's a tough job!All I know is this is my first and last
Good luck to those who continue to be loyal to
