Stock Turbo or Upgraded Turbo?
The production, real deal reverse scroll 20g wheels have finally been built. I will have the first turbo at our Mitsu vs. Subaru Showdown on Friday for display. I had hoped to have it on the car and running some numbers with it then but it is getting to us a day late.
I still have high hopes for this turbo.
BTW, I say stock turbo. I made 393 whp and 380 ft lbs of torque with the RS on 94 octane.

I am looking to make 420+++ WHP on pump gas.
I am wondering why doesn't the Torque really go up on an upgraded turbo?
In fact I make more torque then some guys with upgraded 50Trims.
I know their torque curve is longer and doesn’t drop off as fast but why not 400Fp’s on pump gas? Why does it stay the same?

Sweeet! Good news.
The stock turbo is fine, really. I think people forget that the 16g is already a pretty big turbo. Maybe if you came from a single turbo Supra you may be dissapointed, but for most (me included), the stock turbo is fine.

Stealth mods on the stocker. YES. Now would 22PSI @ 72% efficiency be too much to hope for? That is the kind of upgrade that would work for me on multiple levels.
PS: Dave you are bad man or should I say hot rod demon (800+ HP, OMG).

i want ~390awhp with bolt-ons new turbo flash and NO cams.....so im definately thinkin slightly bgger is a lil better..?

BR440 works well, still stock turbo kicks ***.
The reason the stock turbo makes so much torque is the instant spool up at low rpm where the torque in the 2.0 is produced. Torque generally falls with RPM, HP generally climbs with RPM.
We did make 579 ft lbs at 30 psi on a GT35R, so high torque numbers are very possible.

...I know this is a super-old thread, but could you please list all the mods you had to make these numbers. This Is what I'd definately like to accomplish w/my 8, and to occasionally run 100 octane and break 400+ ( I already have Walbro 255 fuel pump, HKS intake w/K&N filter, Hallman MBC, and TBE) what else?.....
Shocker, that's way old news not in terms of the thread being 2 years old, but in terms of there being much newer turbos on the market. Your car is not built to 1/10ths of the car Buschur is referencing in that quote...
