yea this seems very very unlikely. i have a feeling he was sucked into some sort of smart buy deal in which they dropped the price down to that and he's still paying more then the car is worth. I bet anything his last payment is huge

No way I'd even pay 38 for a MR. I saw a GSR for 38k and a 42k STI when I was shopping for an EVO.

Tony Domiano's in Eynon (sp?) PA... outside of Scranton... i bought this car last end of june... see, they allocated this BBY Evo based on my request, but, it had the SSL... so, even though when i sat in the seat it felt like i was being cuddled by the hot clingy girl next door... not that i know or anything... and i loved it, i made a scene that i didn't want leather cause it sucks... so, they knocked it off and let the car go... good ppl there... a lil, well, seemingly on the Mafia side, but, hey, those guys were awesome... never went for service there yet though, and i'm bpu+... but, they said just so i didn't way overboost the motor, nor changed the turbo or internals, and i'm alright... yay for me... (even though cams will be going in soon, hehehe)

I'm about to pay 34,923 on an MR here in Cali (including destination). OTD is going to be a hair over 38k with TT&L. Unlike people who aren't specific about what they paid for their car but insist they got a good price (I've seen numerous "pm me for price") I have no problem letting you guys know what I am paying.

Your purchase price is 1k lower than mine was, but your OTD is higher by 1k. 1k of the difference was my $500 deposit and $500 customer loyalty, but I guess the other 1k is higher taxes in Cali? My sales tax was 4.5%.

Oh yeah. Tax is like 8 and a quarter? Not positive. I live in LA county, but am registering my car in Ventura county (thank you fiance's mom). I think it's either a 1/4 or 1/2 aq point lower for sales tax in Ventura County. Oh wat, just looked at a receipt. It is 8.25% tax here in LA county. I need to move to Oregon, geez...still got a good deal though. Some guys are getting 39k OTD on MRs here (with tax).

I did a lot of shopping around before I bought my Evo last month...like 4 months worth. You couldn't get a used '04 STi OTD for the $28k, much less a used '05 STi. I'd be surprised if you could get a new '05 STi OTD for the $32k. I think your friend is full of ish.

i didnt buy it, but here in st. louis they had a white '04 evo with SSL with 7 miles on it in the showroom floor, and my wife talked them down to $28,500. (before taxes) i didnt buy it because i found a '03 with moonroof that was brand new never sold for $24,900.. although white was my number one choice and i ended up with rally red.

I got my MR for $32 (before tax) - it was a dealer rollback with 200 miles on it. I have looked at some STi's in NorCal and I have a really hard time believing the "$28 OTD" price! Most have "dealer mark up" all over them.
Just my $.02

Yeah my 05 was about 29 AFTER taxes, dest, everything. And that was a half a year ago when the 05's were only out for a couple months. Could have gotten an 04 GSR for 28-28.5 easy.

Sounds like the guy got a pretty good deal, but not unheard of.
