View Poll Results: As far as the Evo's looks is concerned
It's hideous. I own one because of the performance and value.

It's beautiful, with the aesthetic qualities of a Michelangelo sculpture.

Is the Evo an "ugly"car?
I dig my Evo. Its got nice smooth lines which I like, and the front is great. View from teh rear is a little ho hum though. Also I think it is a little high? If it had a slightly lower roof line I think it would look better.
The thing is though that when I see an Evo, or a GTR or any of those kind of fast cars, the performance is what I think of first, not "oh that wing is ugly". Thats why I love them, for the performance. And the Evo has grown on me as well. Any car can grow on you over time.

The cars awesome, and very aggresive. When people double take its because they realize that its different, whether they think its ugly or not. I love it, and I feel like I stand out, way more then a Z, or s2000.
The styling i think is pretty attractive, except for the altezzas, I replaced with the evo VII tails, and the big *** spoiler ( Swap it with a smaller lancer spoiler) someone with a the same color lancer wants your spoiler!
With my Fatazz in it how can it be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So mine is not hot. Put one of them Asian hotties on the hood or preferably backseat and the Evo is really hot. Opps this is IE on Beavis puter.
A lot of delusional evo owners here... there is no way the evo will ever be considered a beautiful car. Until Mitsubishi moves away from basing the Evolution on the Lancer body, it will never be a beautiful car.
Being a Systems Engineer I end up visiting several clients throughout the day to solve various computer problems. One bank client I visited had about half the mortgage reps come outside to check the car out and they all gave it the thumbs up... including several attractive women who thought it was really good looking and they wanted a ride...
Overall I think the car has a very aggressive stance from the front and in silver it really looks like a clean design regardless of the slighly overstated wing. I do have the sunroof and leather seats which seems to help a bit but in my mind that is just extra weight in a car like this. Do I think my modded Eclipse looks better overall? You bet... but the Evo 8 does pretty well considering that it's based on a 4 door Lancer design. I do miss my Galant VR4 already for it's sleeper looks but the Evo comes out the door with such good overall performance that convinces me that good looks aren't the only thing that matters to the die hard car enthusiast.

Well chicks seem to dig it. Especially without the wing. But I could use a little less of the sharp corner lines. And this is my first 4-door car, I don't use the rear doors that much and would rather have a Skyline. Or something designed in the Italian style like my Impulse. I bought it for the performance and reliability of a new car.
I wouldn't say ugly or beautiful, but I'd say it's unique. We've seen big wings on all kinds of cars. We've seen flared wheel wells on cars like the 80's Supra, the Conquest and the Renault 5 Turbo. What we haven't seen is the heat extractor. Every other car out there either has a hood scoop or a FAKE hood scoop. The heat extractor, the flared fenders, the big wing (and now the VG) all make the Evo a unique car. Take it or leave it.
I actually hope less people buy an Evo. I like having one of the few around town.

The car is not a crowd pleaser, meaning it's not a car that visually appeals to the general public...Does that make it ugly? Maybe to some, to me it's just one hell of a unique car with very aggressive and functional features. Those who think it's ugly only say that because they don't have an appreciation for rally-inspired performance...especially the people that say it looks "like a riced out lancer", that's just flat out pure ignorance. Some people just don't believe big wings should be on 4-doors, and that's ok, that's why there is the option of taking the wing off. However, I prefer functionality over aesthetics, Mitsubishi put it on there for a reason and the wing has been a significant trademark on most of the previous generation evolutions...
With that being said, I don't really care what people think of my car, I got it because it was everything I was looking for in a car and I love the way it stands out among the others in the crowd.
