Viper 791XV Car Alarm
Viper 791XV Car Alarm
I sure am posting a lot of threads tonight!
It's about time I bought a car alarm, I just paid 1450$ off of my credit card and I think this and a V1 are in order. Has anyone used this alarm? It looks to have a lot of features, and I hear lots of good stuff about Viper. I was thinking about picking one up off of eBay, they go cheap there (200$) and having it installed by a guy I know who runs a shop that does this type of stuff.
Any thoughts on this alarm?

Have to disagree on Compustar being the best. DEI has preved themselves over and over again.
I have the 791 on my car, but I dint hook up the remote start part. I just use the turbo timer part and the alarm/pager part.
ONLY bad thing I have found is that when the car is broken into is the alarm remote only beeps for abour 10-15 seconds. Other then that its A++++

wow guys. im planning to get the same alarm, however just the 691xv, i believe the model number is, the only difference is that it does NOT have remote start...
i definitely would not put remote start on a manual transmission car. its just too risky, having in mind that you will be having the car for years, and a possibility that a single time you might leave it in gear..

I have the Viper on two of my vehicles both with remote start, I really like it and I have had no problems. The alarm is made by DEI and they make some pretty good alarms. The remote works on an AM frequency and can sometimes be a problem. For my evo I had a crimestopper model 2010 I believe installed with remote start (hard to find someone to install it on a manual car), these are FM remotes and are supposedly better without as much interference I guess but I really don't see the difference.
I have had the Vipers for over 2 years now and they are still holding up just fine, the only problem is that you have to keep a closet full of AAA batteries cause you will go through 1 every 3-4 weeks if you use it.
