Need help maxing out the stock turbo.. thoughts?
I want to max out the stock turbo but I feel like I've hit a wall?
10.5 hotside
Helix O2 housing
HKS Downpipe
Helix 3" HF cat
Fujitsubo catback
HKS 264/272
cam gears
fuel pump
Greddy IC /w lower pipes
Vishnu ECU XFlash
With this, I made 312whp/311wtq at Turbotrix. I would ideally like to make 350whp if possible, where would I go next? Porting? Intake (I know Vishnu frowns upon this)? Ignition upgrades?
I know it seems "low" compared to other cars with similar mods, but other guys that dynoed the same day with my setup (but with test pipe instead of a cat) made around 320-330whp, so it seems within an acceptable range. Could it be that Shiv changed some settings on the dyno?
So... I really want to keep the stock turbo for driveability and instant power - I've been following Dave's thread as he mods out his RS, but I feel like from this point on most mods are going to have diminishing returns with increasing cost, e.g., porting the stock manifold etc.
Any ideas?

You want more power, run catless......... You'll easily see 10-15awhp extra. My Buschur exhaust is leaking before the cat now after cam install. That's how much the cams are flowing and the cat is just restricting it, lossing power.

A test pipe is worth 15-20whp easily. Running race gas and turning up the boost would be worth another 15-20whp (more with an XEDE since you could modify timing and fuel to compensate for the extra octane). An intake is pretty much useless and even worse than useless when the hood is closed (hot air induction). I've seen under-drive pulleys worth 10-15whp as well although I'm a bit weary of the long-term implications of running them.
Above and beyond that, things get pretty expensive.
Hope that helps,
Shiv

I know the XEDE has better boost modulation than the XFlash, maybe I'll pick one up?
If I do, will I have to get my ECU flashed back to stock? (or get a XEDEFlash done)

You can still run an xede on top of an XFlash no problem. But you wont be able to rely on custom maps anymore which may or may not be an issue for you. I do, however, have some pretty hot 365-375whp (awd dynojet) XEDE maps for your set-up Stg 1+ (plus 10.5 hotside and racegas) that you would simply need to download into your XEDE. No real tuning necessary.

So after some more research, it would seem like this is all I can do, that's "bang for the buck" in terms of maxing out the stock turbo. I think I'm going to pick up a "stealth test pipe" (with welded cat shields) and maybe port the stock mani, then maybe pick up the XEDE.
Short of going to a new turbo, I don't think there's much else to do here. I think if I can make 350 on the stock turbo, I'd be happy.

you can get a bigger throttle body (works or br) , port intake and exhaust manifolds along with o2 housing. then alcohol or methanol injection
i plan on doing this also.

Yeah, I thought about the ported TB/intake, but both seem expensive and I can't obtain cores for the exchange (my car is a daily, so it can't have any downtime). IIRC, the gains for ported TB/intake were like, what, 15whp? It really does seem at this point all mods becomes less and less cost effective... hum.
I'm not big on the alky injection, I'm a little paranoid about them. Call me old fashioned.

arent' you running a bit lean? you're at the 12 + mark... anyway, stroker kit would definitely help.
manifold, ported 02 housing, injectors could help? that and fmic and alky kit could boost you up there around 26 ~28 psi safely from what i saw...

BTW do you have a different BOV? How much boost are you running? Also you dyno looks lean unless you were on racegas.
I have a Greddy TypeS, with the one spring mod. I'm running the boost that XFlash runs, which I believe is 23-24psi tapering down to 19 or so?
I think I should be ok AFR, a lot of the DSM guys have been running 12:1 AFR's for awhile.
How exactly does the alky injection work? Isn't it throttle based? If I did get alky, then I'd probably want an ECM with a switchable map, one with, one without the alky. How $$ is it to refill the alky anyway?

Man I think you should be seeing a lot more power than that. Check the registry - there's guys with an intake, reflash, 3" full exhaust, fuel pump, and straight 264s putting down 340+whp on a mustang dyno.
