I checked my tire pressure today.... both of the fronts 36psi, passanger rear 35psi, driver side rear 10psi!!! so i guess it was because of my reaction to the swerving and over steering plus the low tire pressure in the rear that all came together for this to happen. so in the end im just dumb for not keeping an eye on my tire pressure!
OK, this definately explains it! It's a good thing you posted this because most drivers never think about tire pressure. It's a good thing for any driver to get a pressure meter and carry it in your glove compartment. I hope that other drivers out there can learn from this experience. 10 Psi is really low, you may have lost some of the pressure during the skid as well.

well its good to hear u discovered the problem and all, but yea tire pressure lol always shoudl check it... but a little over a year ago when i had my old lancer with 18's on it and low pro tires, i never bother checkign the pressure and one day doing almost 90 (yea yea i know) on the highway my passenger side rear tire blew apart, basically from low tire pressure the sidewall was rubbing the rim and the side wall exploded.. once i pulled the car over and check the entire sidewall was gone and the tread was still left in a complete circle just no sidewall.. o yea the rim didnt even have a scratch or dent, boy was i lucky to not lost control and that the rim was ok. lol anyway.. hehe

love yall!

Luckily no cars were behind me and i just put it back into first gear and got off the next exit. omg was it scary, i almost hit the jersey barrier. Now my Check Engine light is on. and my car has stalled out 3 times. ( I have an MR. bov and sometimes at low rpms itll stall out and i can start it right back up). But these 3 times it stalled out it was pretty bad, i couldnt start the car right away, it would crank but wouldnt turn over. Any idea of what could be wrong guys? i really hope nothing serious is wrong, but i mean that 540 was pretty intense and wouldnt suprise me if it messed something up. Other than that the car drives/runs/sounds like normal. PLEASE HELP!
how worn are your tires? rain?

I am suggesting both, an experienced driver would know that doing a flick by changing the direction of the car and then changing it back again (kind of like a semi-scandanavian flick) at lower speed is safer and easier to control. As the speeds gets higher so does the momentum of the car and its rear end. It gets harder to control the forces of inertia. Most cars get more unstable as the speeds increase, unless you are taking about F1 cars that create tons of downforce as speeds increase. And more experienced drivers would also know how to recover an AWD car from oversteer.

It depends on what speeds, lower speeds are generally safer, higher speeds with a load in the back seat (eg: passangers) is more dangerous. Simply put, you can't defy the laws of physics .... I've run a slalom at lower speeds with my car ... but I would be careful doing it at higher speeds, knowing what I know ...

Again it depends on what speeds and how quick the inputs are, you have to remember we have a much higher steering ratio on the EVO compared to most other cars on the road.... if you think it is sad then may be you can tune your suspension to understeer more or buy a different car ...

My apologies for side tracking the thread. It seems like the owner found out what the issue was .... tire pressure .... thankfully they are OK ...
