Just almost died, rear locked up on highway

I just escaped death in my 03 evo by like 3 feet, I was on the highway doing about 85+ in the fast lane, i go to switch to the center lane and i start to fishtail, my rear swings far out to the right, i save it, swings out to the left, i save it, as it was leveling itself back out the rear somehow seemed to lock up and sent me into a 540 degree spin. Luckily no cars were behind me and i just put it back into first gear and got off the next exit. omg was it scary, i almost hit the jersey barrier. Now my Check Engine light is on. and my car has stalled out 3 times. ( I have an MR. bov and sometimes at low rpms itll stall out and i can start it right back up). But these 3 times it stalled out it was pretty bad, i couldnt start the car right away, it would crank but wouldnt turn over. Any idea of what could be wrong guys? i really hope nothing serious is wrong, but i mean that 540 was pretty intense and wouldnt suprise me if it messed something up. Other than that the car drives/runs/sounds like normal. PLEASE HELP!

I have spun my car two times. Once unintentional and once on purpose. Each time that the spin has been really hard the CEL went on and the car wouldnt turn on for a few minutes. The car wouldnt start for like 5 minutes the time I unintentionally spun it out. Just thought I would let you know, I'm not sure whats going on with it

Edit: (The intentional spin was doughnuts in the snow, but damn they were intense doughnuts ) In the snow doughnuts, the car only stalled out after a really hard spin, but the car still runs fine to this day. Or maybe I'm not aware of a problem, someone want to enlighten me?

Man glad to hear your Ok. Get that car to the dealership asap. If my rear end locked up I would not drive it anymore it's not worth the risk to your self or others. Best of Luck!

How you spin the evo when you were going straight on the freeway?

So you say your rear tires locked up? Sounds like a transfer case problem. Normally when your center differential (located in the transfer case) fails it would cause all tires to lock. I would get that looked at seriously. The rear tires should not lock up on their own period. I would see what Mitsu says about it.

thanks for the quick responses guys, but i have mods on the car and no stock parts so i cant take it in right away, but maybe the rear didnt lock up and it was because of the momentum, tonight was the first night ive ever spun out like that.

what did you do wrong? was it wet out or did you just change lanes way to quick?

i must have changed to quick, i was going in a semi straight line, just a LITTLE bend, also had a full car if that makes a difference.

Did you spin out due to steering input or because your rear tires locked up??One way its your own fault, other way it was a malfunction of the car, big difference..

If you question how he could spin out, try going 40 or above in a HUGE empty parking lot and pulling the ebrake, then nudge your steering wheel like you would switching lanes. When you are traveling that fast, anything will send you spinning out of control, especially when you don't expect it on the freeway. =/

Good to hear you are ok. Don't drive it anywhere but straight to the dealer! =D

dame your lucky you saved it. If it wasnt ur tires locking up, than I think having a packed car might have something to do with it.

check to make sure your intake is not loose! that may cause it to stall! mine came off some how in the first 3 weeks of ownership and it was brand new!
disconnect the battery and wait 2-5mins and i gurantee it will start ight up!
reset the ecu
