Just bought a "fake" test pipe off a fellow EvoM member?

I just recently bought what I thought was a 3" RMR test pipe from a fellow EvoM member, but upon arrival and inspection, it looks more like a gutted cat. It's not a straight 3", it bulges around the center (like a cat) but looks more like a resonator than anything. When I look on the inside, the center section where the bulge is has little circular "bumps" around the side of the pipe. Seems to me like it's either a resonated test pipe, or a gutted cat - neither of which I thought I was buying.

I've never seen a RMR test pipe in person, but I was under the impression that it was a straight through 3"? Am I wrong in thinking that, or was I sent something that's not what I thought it was?

BTW, I assume those bumps will affect my airflow through the pipe? The whole reason for getting a test pipe was to have something straight through, as I have a HF cat now.

Bummer. I wanted a straight through test pipe, not a resonated one... guess I should PM him and figure out what's going on.

that blows if that person meant to deceive you. if he did mean it, make sure you tell us all who it is, so we can watch out for him

I assume you are talking about "louvers". If it "buldges" as you say, it sounds like a resonator to me. My straight pipe, as well as every other straight pipe I've ever seen, does not buldge out at all. Sounds like you got hosed.

Actually you know what... I think it might be the megan racing test pipe. I remember reading how their HF cat wasn't really a cat at all, just a resonated test pipe.

It kinda looks like that, except one of the flanges is two bolt, not three. Otherwise, yeah.

It's all good, I have resolved it with the seller. It was actually a RNR resonated test pipe, and not the RMR one. Seller has agreed to take it back and cover full shipping expenses. So.. anyone have a test pipe to sell me?
