Misled by dealer..now what?!

Still have Black car coming, (supposedly) but the dealer that had my first choice (Silver) on the way that had assured me it would be MSRP has had a change of mind...

His owner told him that they are only getting one for starters, and therfore will be having a sealed bid auction to sell the car

I must tell you...if I didn't like this car, I would pull the plug on it and go buy a G35 or something else....

I hope the other dealer takes care of me..otherwise I'm goona have to start calling some dealers! (MSRP and Silver or BUST!!!)

It's dealers like that who made me walk across the street to Ford, test drive a 2003 SVT Cobra, and BUY one for UNDER INVOICE PRICE (plus $1000 gas guzzler, plus $650 for upgraded wheels) for $33.4 K. To think, they are charging more for a Lancer Evolution. Pfft! The Mitsu dealer told me "no less than 35K we start negotiating with YOU." BWAHAHAHAHA bye bye

I agree. I dont think the EVO is worth over sticker. Sure, it performs like a $100K porsche but it still has the interior of an 18K car. We're paying for mostly performance here. $30K for a car is a lot of money in any sense so it's hard for me to imagine paying in the mid 30's for that car. I say that also because I know in a year or so, they are going to be selling at sticker or under like the WRX now after that craze. It will be hard to forgive myself after that . Someone was mentioning in another thread that he works at a mitsu dealer and has customers paying $8000 over sticker. That's ridiculous. Right now i'm trying to decide between the EVO and at least a 2 year old Lexus GS400 (very plush and beautiful, 300HP, 310lb-ft). I keep swaying between the two. You get more by buying the Lexus (one of my fav cars) but I've always wanted the EVO....decisions decisions.

Well put limey......... which is why i'm always swaying back towards the EVO. It's a tough decision for me though. I drive a 4G63 now and have for the last 5 years. I guess i'm thinking about something more of a cruiser. I've talked to a bunch of people that has gs400's and they love it like no other. I'm certain the EVO will be a blast though.....and it's a new car...and i've always wanted an EVO. I feel like I would be betraying myself.

Lexus smexus??!

I Have sold highline cars, and am employed as a Sales Manager at a Lexus dealership as we speak..

I also have orders on the EVO 8..(black and silver)

I wouldn't put the GS400 in the same class as the EVO, even if you are comparing the new Evo to a Pre-Owned GS4 ..TOTALLY different type of car. The real apple to apple comparo would be the IS300, but to me, I would take the EVO for it's performance hands down.
Let's face it...
The EVO is a BASE CAR in regards to elegance of interiors when compared to other 30K cars. Seriously! We are buying this car for it's uniqueness, performance, and pure fun aspect. (plus we will smoke virtually everything on 4 wheels, and screw around with some on two as well!!
If not for that, we would just be buying a stock lancer!!( no offense dudes and dudettes) Lets throw some turbos and **** on it, and yeehahh!!

I really have a hard time paying 30K for this thing the more I look at it, but we only go around once, and there are 5999 other goofballs like me out there buying one too..!

I really can't wait for this little son of a gun to arrive! It's like an M3 that I can actually justify buying!

Good call on the 03 Cobra... but I think the lesson learned from your situation and the WRX situation is that in time, prices will lower themselves to actual value.

If you guys can just be patient "long enough" for the hype/demand to level off, I think you'll end up getting the EVO for the price you think is fair

Good call Turboniam. I think the dealerships see too many $ signs
as we speak and they know that people are going to buy them.
I guess I will wait till they go back to msrp. It's not that paying
$5k over msrp is out of my price range, I just think paying $34k for
a car that has a $14k dollar brothers interior, well plus the seats and steeringwheel is not for me.

M3, i'd have to totally agree with you. To clarify something....i'm not comparing the GS4 with the EVO as a class of cars. I know they are totally different cars. What I'm comparing is two cars I've totally longed for for a long time and what I actually get for 30K. I test drove a GS4 on friday and was very impressed. It's a lot faster than I imagined (i drove an l-tuned one). The GS4 is clearly an all-around great car. Low maintenance, super plush, excellent performance, etc. When seeing what I can get for 30K I hit a road block just because I can get a car that doesnt perform up to the caliber of the EVO but have a nice leather interior, power everything, heated seats, anti skid control, smart ABS, 300HP, etc. Plus, the comfort level and build quality is amazing.

As much as I love the EVO and how loyal i am to mitsubishi cars, I can honestly say i've got a tough decision because I'm spending a considerable amount of money on this car.....which will be my only car. I want something that will be worth the new monthly payment (my car is paid off). I know the EVO will make me happy, but will the GS4 make me just as happy or happier? It's a nice cruiser and it makes it easier to wear a shirt, tie, and nice shoes to work (really inconvenient with my car now). I need to take two pairs of shoes. Realistically, for me at least, i've got some thinking to do...

What makes me lean more towards the EVO is the fact that I will be getting it brand new and it will be one of the fastest cars on the road with few that can compare. It's also VERY unique. There are many GS' floating around and I dont anticipate seeing nearly as many EVOs.

Now if I could only have both.........

Cant wait for the EVO though...talk about pure fun!!
