EVO VIII for the US
EVO VIII for the US
Hello, first post
I have been calling dealers today trying to get on a list to get a car. Well none of the ones I spoke with said they had a list. But one of them did say that the US will be getting the EVO VIII that's why it isn't coming here until 03. Has anybody else heard this?
I read the other thread on here about VII vs VIII so I guess nobody really knows the differences. Either way I want one.

Here is one paragraph I found about the what the EVO VIII might include:
"Next year, once Mitsubishi has sold its intended 10,000 examples of the Evo VII, the company plans to introduce the Evo VIII. This will see a return to the famous dinner-plate foglamps of all previous Evo generations. A boost in torque is also expected, but perhaps the most surprising addition will be an automatic transmission option for the very first time on an Evo. Again, the Impreza WRX has always boasted a self-shifting transmission option in Japan"
Another place I found said the engine would be replace with a new GDI unit or something like that in the EVO VIII.

2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
After teasing appearances at auto shows and months of speculation, the Lancer Evolution VII has finally been confirmed for sale in the United States beginning spring 2003. This extreme, motorsports-tuned Lancer variant features a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, lightweight body pieces, and ferocious powerplant in pureblood Japanese form.
"The American market can expect the rally-bred sedan to make the trip almost entirely intact, with the exception of the 276-horsepower output: while that figure was originally thought to be reduced to 250 due to emissions and intercooler packaging issues, sources now say it will have at least 260 horses. "
Price is promised to be under $30, which puts this ultra-sports sedan in elite performance company. Expect Subaru is to counter with its potent WRX STi.
I think it's obvious, we WILL get ACD and AYC, it will be the Evo VII, It will have 260+HP ,and it will not have those ****ty altezza's

bioyuki,
Holy Hell! I thought that I was the only one who thought the fog lights on the earlier models looked tacty. I guess that makes 2 of us then!
Maybe we should do a poll? But I guarantee we will be the minority.

well, to each their own, but I have to say, I LOVED the big *** fog lights on the old evos. I thought it defined the "look" of the car. I'm sure they'll be an option if they reappear though, so there is probably isn't a reason to fret over them, if you don't like them.

Sorry but I think the 7's front looks better
