Your potential warranty costs are built into the price of the car itself, plus the warranty work itself is considered a business transfer payment if im not mistaken which is a tax write off for corporations. With this type of car without obvious signs of abuse they should cover cars with light modifcations, and luckily if you deal with the right dealership you won't have any issues.

I think modification and abuse are two different things.. My car is MODIFIED, however it is not ABUSED, therefore my brakes lasted 25k miles, my tires lasted 20k (the originals are still good, just new rims/tires on the car), and my clutch is still going strong at 31k..

I have had my car in for one warranty claim, and one TSB.. the car has been seen and evaluated by everyone who has seen the modifications, and have never been an issue.

What it comes down to is two things, Understanding dealers and service departments, and a mature attitude when it comes to modifying your car. Modifying your car is a risk for you, and the dealer, many modifications some of you guys do are fairly minor, and will never cause you a problem with your warranty.. Then you have others who are doing things to abuse their vehicles, neglect them, or outright break the law by altering or removing safety, and emission equipment.. Its a liability to them to service a car that has been Illegally altered..

Anyway.. The truth is far more people have *NOT* had any major issues with their cars, and if they have, a vast majority of people haven't had issues with Mitsubishi, the problems people are having are due to their own actions and behavior.. There are no doubt a few bad situations that have caused peoples warranties to be denied..

But then you have the individual who breaks his car, returns it to stock, brings it to the dealership and they tell him to "Suck it up and pay to fix your <insert drivetrain part here>"

Or you have these highly modified and abused cars being returned to stock, and being resold as unmodified, only for the next owner to get stuck with a bill for repairs due to abuse...

Anyway.. If you don't want issues, DONT MODIFY YOUR CAR.. PERIOD..
