Angry 05 RS doesnt feel as fast after installation of APexi intakee and greddy type s BOV?

Installed these parts and reset the ecu and it seems my boost went down a little. Will me ECu eventually learn and raise the boost back up or what can I do. I'm VTA and the bov and everything is tight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Your BOV might be leaking. Make sure to do some testing and tighten it down until it doesnt leak.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see that you were VTA. Do what the below poster said.

Your VTA that means your running MORE rich. go back to Recirculate or get a HKS EIDS. Also Get a MBC and your Boost wont go down as much.

Man this is a never ending story on these forums.

EVO's without tuning will see no benifit with an intake and especially a VTA BOV. Your best bet is to put the stock air box back on and the stock BOV until you can get some sort of engine management. For the most part an aftermarket BOV is completely worthless.

Tunning more than mods will help you reach full potential of your car

I agree with most of this, however I have found that a lot of stock DV's leak. Mine leaked at anything over 12 or 14 psi, and changing it made a substantial increase in power. I would definitely recirculate the BOV, and as far as the intake goes, it may cause a slight decrease in power until you are tuned for it, but it shouldn't be a whole lot. The VTA setup is probably robbing you of a lot of power.

I should not have worded it so hard. I do agree with you that some stock BOV's leak, however, I think the best solution is to get the JDM MR BOV. Stick with Mitsubishi parts when possible is how I see it. The MR BOV all aluminum construction helps it to hold boost to higher levels without leaking. There are many threads on the forum touting the MR BOV abilities.

Yea with Intake you will run richer without a tune unless you have TB exhaust then it evens out a little but still kinda ugly in the A/F portion. DEF need to Recirculate because your probally running 14's! So your getting WAXED.

make sure you check how much your are boosting... on my 05 RS after installing my greddy BOV and Intake my boost droped to about 11-12 psi. I checked for leaks and never found one, then i put on a MBC and back up to 19 :/. maybe its an 05 thing?

The O5 evos have much more aggressive timing and boost than 03 and possibly 04 models. They also much more sensitive when in comes to boost issues. Just because you got the boost back up to stock levels doesn’t mean the problem has been corrected. There is a chance that the ECU went into "limp" mode only allowing low boost when you added the BOV and intake.

Also, when you add an intake, you do not run rich, but lean. The intake distorts how the MAF interprets the incoming air causing the lean condition. Without any sort of tuning to correct for the intake the motor will pull timing, knock, or worse lose a piston. So if you add an intake AND crank up the boost, you could get yourself into a heap of trouble real quick.
