Fly By Wire ? "Throttle Control"

the throttle cable comes through the firewall, across the motor, to the passenger fender. there it attaches to a cam and spring (very similar to the typical throttle linkage at the TB). this has a sensor on it and the wires run somewhere that i can't readily discern (still learning my way around the engine bay)
a closer look at the TB reveals a plug very similar to the plug at the end of the throttle cable, and another sensor/motor.
once i get a buddy around (sometime tomorrow) i'll have someone watch the bay while i work the pedal...
strange

here are the pics, they aren't the best, but i'm short on time:
First is the throttle body. note the lack of standard throttle cable, cam and return spring.
secondly, we have an overall shot of the engine bay, with the throttle cable running across. the cable picks up at the corner of the airbox, passes the lower right corner of the valve cover (gotta love the MIVEC label), crosses over the header cover, and passes out of the frame in the lower left corner of the picture, just over the alternator.
the third shot is the termination of the throttle cable. you see the standard cam and return spring.
so, what do we have here?

does your car have cruise control?
throttle by wire would be totally pointless if your going to run a cable through the engine compartment anyway. if your going to do it, you put a potentiometer on the petal, and run the servo motor the throttle is controlled by with the ECU. it makes it easy to add cruise control that way as well, because it is all electronic. althought it looks odd, i think your 3rd picture could easily be cruise control actuator if you indeed do have cruise control. if not then i don't know without more pictures.

my car does indeed have cruise control..
here are some more pics:

I took the cover off above the injectors. you can clearly see that there are no cables of any sort going to the TB.
i also manipulated the throttle and the sensor on the driver's side moves as the pedal is depressed.

wow, if your throttle body doesn't have any cables hanging off it, then it certainly is throttle by wire. like i said before with TBW cruise control is easy to add. but i'm not sure why they put the TPS in the engine compartment. seems redundant to run a cable when you could have just fit the sensor by the pedal.
