Now in limbo

Alright, I know this has been expressed but this is sort of different. First I had a deposit on an evo 8 at a certain dealership, who said "sure msrp should not be a problem". Then the same thing at another dealership and expressed the same
thing. Well I called them both today to find out anything, they both in two different cities said they were'nt going to sell them for msrp. Damn, what to do now? What amount over msrp is too
much, a penny is in my opinion. Any advice would help.

its you versus supply and demand, 6000 plus evos are being made this year, either wait for things to mellow out, or pay the pretty penny, the dealers earned those cars for selling mitsus for years, so they own them, unfortuanately you may just have to find the dealer that doesnt mind, they are as human as you my friend, dont let them fool you.......

I have been scouting for other options, I need a new car, and I have decided what I will pay for the evo.....so I will see what pans out....wait until the dealer has your car (if you have a deposit down...) and go and negotiate...against popular belief I still feel there are quite a few dealers out there that are prepared to be fair....most of the time you will pay a little over MSRP for a new latest and greatest model...the question is how much?.......I have wanted one of these cars for years ....but I have my limits.....if you can't negotiate with the dealer....find out who the owner is and see if he will be more reasonable....the other plan is to simply WAIT until the evos are not a new fad anymore......STI's will also be over MSRP at the majority of Subaru dealers upon it's release

Thanks for the moral support. Seriously I know that this a dealerships opportunity to bring some extra greenbacks but damn, and I know this is business. I told one of the dealers,
look I want the car and you want the business simple as that, unfortunately those of us that know about business realize that
I was just dreaming about getting it for msrp, especially the way
keeps delaying the process.

still waiting for it. when is it coming out ???
i'm going nuts! I been waiting for that car for so long now. plus with my income i don't i can get to own one. I make around 6k a year. That no good. I ask my parnets if they can help, they say okay we'll think about it. so it was like 50/50 chance for me . That was about 4-6 months ago. Ask them about it now and they say no! they are driving me . If I don't get the Evo i might think about getting a MR2 Turbo, RX-7 FD3S TT I think and yamaha R1. Will only time will tell, and hope lady luck is on my side too

Are you serious? You earn 6K a year? Are you still in high school or college? Wait until you finish school and get a job with a real income, then move out of your parents' house, buy all the crap you need to live on a daily basis, including food, rent, utilities, condoms, or whatever. After all of that, if you can afford it, you can think about buying an Evo and paying for high car insurance.

...unless your parents are the kind that spoil their kid by giving them a $30K high-performance car, just so it can be wrapped around a tree.

I put my deposit down in person, talked to the sales rep and the sales manager at length. Shook hands, talked cars, the whole 9 yards. I have their word that they will not "price gouge" and that I will get the vehicle at MSRP. I'm 28 years old, in sales, and have some experience dealing with this. I guarantee that I will have my Evo and that I will pay no more than it says on the sticker. Personally, I think that my dealership is happy that they're selling their first Evo to an enthusiast who loves and understands motoring and plans to AutoX the Evo. Or maybe it's just an ethical dealership who understands that treating the customer right just once could mean many more sales in the future from me, my family and my friends.

Wow, I really hope that deal works out for you. It looks like you've found a dealer that actually values trust, respect, and customer satisfaction. If I was in your position, I'd want to have something in writing. Typically, a dealer's "word" can change at any time.
