How faster is the evo from the IS300, i raced an evo VIII on a highway and i had 3 people in my lex and I dont know if the guy was pushing it or just playing with me, i mean he took me, no doubt but i thought that it would be much worse, btw we were going around 60mph when we took off.

Maintanance on german cars is not that cheap, and i am mechanically inclined, so i would like to work on the car, and evo would definately be easier to work on.
Uh, the difference is inexplicable. The IS300 is slower than slow. It's a mid-15s car at best, and with the automatic, I'm sure mine was no better than a high-15s car. The GS300 is even worse, because it's DEFINITELY automatic (right?) and it weighs more than the IS300. From 0, 30, 60, 90, or whatever...you wouldn't come close to keeping up with an Evo in the GS300 with 0 passengers. With 3, well...that's a joke. I know you already admitted the 215hp isn't great, but if you feel like the GS300 is even SLIGHTLY fast, then you will **** your pants every time you step foot in the Evo. When I bought mine, I already knew how fast it was, because I've owned three 12-sec DSMs (Evo is slower), but the improvement over the IS300 was still shocking. You will absolutely love it...oh, and I drive mine daily to work, too, so that's no problem.

I hear ya about the luxury to EVO. I drove an A4 2.8 Quattro with the cushy suspension before I bought the EVO. But I always drove the A4 very hard and was NEVER satisfied with the ride. If I was just highway cruising, it was nice. I miss the creature comforts alot. But the hands down performance is wayyyy better! Go with the EVO!!

alot of ride quality is the tires as well!

I just put my Advans back on for the summer...and man, they are a bit harsher...not by much compared to my all-seasons' Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S, but I noticed the ride difference.

basically, you can't go wrong with the MR and different tires...

dibs on your new advans if you do decide to go this path.

he was playing with you, he def didn't go full throttle....

cruising at 60mph, a stock evo would be just below positive boost, and slightly below 3k rpm. This is like the sweetest spot to start imo in 5th gear...I can go from 60 to 120 in no time flat....

if he was in 4th running at 60mph...he could have pulled alot harder!

Its all about what you want man. If luxury is very important to you then you probably dont want the Evo. If you want a car meant to be driven get the Evo...if you want a car meant to be driven in stick with the Lexus.

Does your GS300 have the Supra's normally aspirated 3.0L V6? (I forgot the engine code) If it does why not just turbo charge it if you want power and luxury.

Those turbocharged IS300's can get sick with a turbo upgrade. Toyota did a crappy job only giving that car 210hp from the factory. It can easily handle over 400 hp.

I thought about it, but then again, i am not a big fan of turbocharging a car that didn't come turbocharged from the factory, this means: is the tranny strong enough to handle all that power? I dont know, and i have a bumper to bumper warranty, i dont wanna loose that.

i need a car to drive to work, incase i turbocharged it and something goes wrong i might have problems, and I want AWD, cause the GS sux in the snow.

GS300 doesn't share the same NA 2JZGE engine as the NA Supra..you'll have to swap one out of an old 1996-2000 SC300. But if you're going to do that, might as well just buy the SC300...it looks cooler...especially with one of those Japanese tuner body kits. I think the SC300 is built on the Supra chassis...and is basically a luxury NA Supra with a backseat.

Isn't there a 2JZGTE GS300 in one of the drift series? It's in the latest Modified Magazine.

I believe the IS300 does not share the same 2JZ motor either, may be wrong, but almost willing to bet the family farm that it's not the same...otherwise we would have seen massive turbo IS300s. But I heard somewhere it's easier doing the 2JZ swap in the IS300...many ppl also have the Supra 6 speed transmission on their IS300s as well...and I might have wasted my money on my Evo if IS300 really came with the 2JZ motor.

On the other hand, the GS430 might share the same V8 as the V8 Supras in JGTC series...or the motors are very similar and those cars are tuned to around 490hp too..

-I'm a big Toyota nerd.

yeah, you're right...same block but different internals...apparently this issue had been discussed to death on the IS300 forums...here's what needs to be thought about when turboing the new 2JZ engines from Toyota.

also, correcting myself...2JZ was found in the 1992-2000 SC300 models.

Wow, I just had a first ride in the evo, i cant describe it, i was shocked and speechless when the boost came up (very quick), i had to hold onto the handle cause i was pushed into the seat, and almost crap my pants, and the interior ins't really that bad, the car looks 100 times better in person than pictures.

I am looking forward to the evo IX MR<--which suppose to be here in september, yesevo---thanks for the ride, i really appreciate it.
