Luxury ---> Evo
Luxury ---> Evo
Ok, here is my questions, i have been reading and searching about the Evo VIII and the new IX, I really want one but i bought a Lexus GS 300 6 months ago, its not paid off yet, i really like the lexus but power wise its not the quick, i need something with a lot more kick. I know these 2 cars are totally different breed, but what i wanna know is if i am making the right choice? i might trade my lex in for the new evo IX, or sell it privately. Is the ride really that stiff comparing to my lex, is it a big difference? thanks
evos have the stiffest suspension stock, so yes you will feel the bumps in the road but once it goes to full boost..... just hang on tight. I'd recomend you go to a local evo meet and ask one of the guys to give you a ride and then decide if you like it or not
actually the MR suspension is far superior than stock evo's. Since evo 9's going to be basically the evo 8 MR, I believe you could compare that to IS300 and you'll be suprised how comfortable the blistens are.
it's stiff, but not rough.

I have an IS300 and an 05 MR, so I can chime in decently...
There is no comparison between the cars in any WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM (keep in mind the IS300 outperforms the GS300). When I bought my MR, I expected the ride to be very stiff and unforgiving, BUT this was not the case. The Bilsteins make the ride very smooth on the MR as compared to the GSR/RS models, so even though you won't have the comfort of the GS300, you definitely will be a much happier person every time you step in the car.
My IS300 is slow as *****, so I know your GS300 sucks even worse. The moment you step in the Evo, you will be dropping almost 3 seconds in the 1/4-mile while adding world-class handling. Unless you have a need for luxury (plush leather, heated seats, cruise control, great sound system, etc.), you won't regret getting the Evo.

thanks guys for your replies, My first choice before i got my gs 300 was the IS300, but they didn't have any on the lot so i got addicted to the gs300, but the car is heavy and 220hp is not enough for that vehicle. I am definately thinking about the evo IX MR, so i heard that the blisten shocks are lighter on your kidneys. I can't get a test drive cause none of the dealers will let you unless you buying, so I would love to get a ride with someone, just to feel the power and suspension. I know how to drive a stick shift, so thats not a problem, but i never drove a turbocharged car, and i don't know how that would change my habits of driving.
Do you guys recommend any dealers in NY area, i live in Queens, thanks guys.

You need to drive an EVO for longer than a standard test drive. Coming from a lux sedan, the EVO's ride is going to feel brutal. You may want to consider an S4 or M3 instead (used if money is an issue).
Lets put it this way.......i've owned a Lexus IS300, Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT<<<Luxury
I ditched them all and an 05 STi.............for my 05 EVO , im 10x happier in my EVO than all those cars combined. Period

I would say this much about the VIII, if you live in an area with well paved smooth streets, it won't be a problem. However, if you live in an inner city, or area with bumpy broken streets driving the EVO will be brutal. In the later case you will have difficulty just excelerating smoothly from a stopped posiition. You will find yourself jolting and jostling around in an uncontrolled fashion. Where I live it's nice smooth wide open roads. The car is fantastic there, however when ever I drive in the city, it can suck sometimes.
Well i would drive the car everyday to work, I dont really mind the suspension that much, i know that it will be stiffer, but eventually i be getting another car, so that i can use the evo for weekend and winter.
Warrtalon:
How faster is the evo from the IS300, i raced an evo VIII on a highway and i had 3 people in my lex and I dont know if the guy was pushing it or just playing with me, i mean he took me, no doubt but i thought that it would be much worse, btw we were going around 60mph when we took off.
kdogg:
Maintanance on german cars is not that cheap, and i am mechanically inclined, so i would like to work on the car, and evo would definately be easier to work on.
