Of course, it's a high performance car and if you cure those issues, you'll lose the essence of the car .... Still, if you are looking for disadvantages you have to consider those. Oh yeah, the initial price is also a bit higher than your regular econobox or even a decent sedan.....
Oh yeah, I think the cflutch is a non issue if you dont abuse the car. Personally, I think a well cared for EVO that's not driven abusively should last a long time without any problems. These cars are very sturdily built
But the Evo is not an econobox, nor is it a "decent" sedan. It is a highperformance machine without the high performance price. You won't find this level of performance at a good price other than Subaru.

Oh, I know. Don't forget, I'm on my second EVO . Anyway, he was asking about the downsides of owning an EVO and I think it's fair to list some of the things that many people take for granted in most cars but will not be noticed (or will be noticed) with the EVO..... They are great cars, I'm the first to sing their praises, but I can also be realistic about their drawbacks.

Retards in Hondas wanting to race me.
Wondering when somebody is going to steel it.
The modding thing too but i doesn't matter what car I have, so that's more of a personal issue.

Retards in Hondas who race me and smoke me

I have a little over 20k miles and lots and lots of spirited driving and a few track races and auto-xs on my car and the stock clutch is still grabbing as hard as day 4 (took 3 days to break-in, )

downsides are the clutch and the transfer case. they get too expensive.
if you have an 03-04' non rs. i would do an LSD while doing the clutch.

The clutches are not a problem in any of the EVOs except if you abuse them (dragstrip launches, etc.). Driven properly and not abused they last a good long time...

i was one of those honda guy that hunt down evo and sti.
my previous car was a 12 sec all motor honda (street car).

i've only had the evo for 4 days and the downside is shifting at 7k rpm. i miss shifting at 9k.
