Burned CDs

Hey guys I just wanted to see if you guys had this problem as well.
Lately I've been noticing that all of my CDs that were burned on GQ [Great Quality] CD-Rs from Frys have not been working in my car! They do, but the quality is as good as a distant AM station haha. Btw they are not MP3 CDs but rather burned CDs. Thanks!

That seems odd, do your CDs work well in other CD players? I've been highly unimpressed by the GQ media that's sold at my local Frys. Why not get some good media? You can buy Ritek CDRs at something like 100 for $25 shipped.

My CD player is kind of pissed that i burned Audio on the Data CDs, but the reflectivity is near the same and works most of the time.

I've had some problems with certain store bought CD's skipping or repeating and stuttering etc. Other CD's work fine, I don't understand why a brand new CD with no scratches would F-up in the CD player? I have the stock stereo system still. I guess maybe I should upgrade?
Anyone else with stock system have problems like this?

All CDs come from 1 of about 12 worldwide factories. Almost all of them are basically the same.

Use better media (TDK, Phillips, Memorex, etc) CD's are so cheap now they are all the same price. You can get 100 for $25 at your local best buy. I burn audio cd's on data cd's all the time and have had no problems. They don't have to be audio cd's for them to play

FWIW, use Nero to burn your CD's. Don't use that crappy XP burning program. If you have Nero check for updates.

As others said what burning software are you using? What sample are they being burned to? and from? It sounds like you are taking a 128kb mp3 and upgraded it to a 192. What usually happens is through user error or maybe some vbr setting that the audio actually compresses more than it is suppose to and makes it sound washy. There is no reason why your music should sound like its in a bathroom. So, its either your sampling rate or just the way you are burning them.

actually, this is not true. Taiyo Suden's are bench mark cd/dvds. They are the best cd you can get. next is ritek.

As far as compusa brands and tdk and memorex they really are all the same thing. This i do agree. But, the only downside is some batches are better than others. And this could be the case with your(original poster) GQ cds.

lol, user error. that's a nice way of saying that the user is an idiot.

To test the media, burn your audio CD at 1x. Regardless of hardware capabilities these days, most audiophiles and software producers will tell you that 1x is the way to go.

If they work at 1x without a problem, you can try bumping up the speed bit by bit. Chances are it's just poor quality media, the burnable surface is too thick or too thin. Memorex discs work well, and are rarely more than 19.99 for a 50 spindle.
