Fresno Mitsu and a warranty issue....

ok these guys just replaced my syncros under warranty even with all my driveline mods, which i madea thread on already, but this thread is something else regarding them. There's a rep over at Fresno Mitsubishi of California by the name of KEITH MILLER. I spoke to him once but wasnt regarding warranty issues. As some of u know, my car went in last tuesday for the job and its Wednesday and i get it back tomorrow. But the thing is, another EvoM member's car went in for a 2nd time regarding syncros and they kept his car there for about 3-5 days just sitting in the back getting a tan. Today my friend picked up his car and Keith miller says he wont warranty his car because he has a ACT clutch (which i also have +many drivetrain mods). Blaming his 5th/R problem on his ACT clutch (5th/R syncro is on the TSB for 03 evos). So my friend said "well how come you're fixing that car then it has the same clutch" (pointing at my car) and keith miller replies: well its the first time, after this if he has problems, we're NOT gonna fix it. What kinda crappy warranty does mitsu offer to us? its limited as is, but come on now..this is CRAP. As for my car, i never had a prob with 5th/reverse lucky me i guess, so if i get the car back with new syncros and i start to experience the TSB problem, better know im blaming it on them because i never had 5th/R problems.

Wow... they charged me 200 bucks to resurface my rotors. Eh... Good luck on the synchros bro.

why is that crappy service? he's fixing your tranny problem even after acknowledging that you have an aftermarket clutch in the car?

Next time go to a different dealer...

It's crappy because it's inconsistency at its finest. Mitsu's dealer network is the suck, end of story. I feel bad for his friend.

I am actually his friend that had his EVO at the dealership. I just need to say a few things on this matter though:

Keith Miller is not the one to blame about this. He has willingly stated that he will tear down my car and fix it, but if they find that it was my fault, then I would be responsable for the tear down. Basically if he finds that I have beaten the car and damaged the syncros, then I am responsable (which is understandable).

The one I am having a problem with is the Mitsubishi Rep themselves. They refused to even look at the car once they found out it had an aftermarket clutch. He said that the clutch is the reason why the syncro is grinding (even though it wouldnt go into reverse the day I got it home from the dealership the first time), therefore he wont fix it under the warranty.

I know for a fact that the reverse/5th is not due to the clutch but I would hate to have the car torn down and have something come back at being my fault. Keith had told me that he is willing to cover this under the dealership's warranty since Mitsu has left us out in the cold on it.

I am still going to fight Mitsu directly, but Fresno has done everything in their power to help me out. I have no beef against them and wont think twice about driving 2 hrs to bring my car in for any other work. Hell, they even fixed a few other bugs that bothered me without batting an eye.

One thing I have to say to you though Ralli, if you have any issues with it not going in reverse or 5th, bring it back immediately. Dont wait like we did and give them any doubt.

They worked on it the first time because they needed to replace the syncros with stronger ones. Since no one has had a problem with the "new improved" syncros, then they (Mitsubishi) assume it's the clutch that did the damage and not their prescious syncros.

Lastly, if anyone that has had their 5th syncro replaced with the "new improved" parts and still get the grind, please let me know. Maybe there is a problem they are unaware of and I would love to be the one to "open their eyes".

Sorry about the long post, just had to vent.
