I dont really think its relevant. After realizing what a stupid move this was on his part he probably changed his mind. It has nothing to do with mitsubishi that a random dealership made some riculously foolish promise to you. You are the reason that people with legitimate warrantee claims cant get stuffed fixed.

When he was given this 'Personal Warente,' the mechanic knew about the power modifications and unless Furry added more power later, there shouldn't be a problem, unless he is dealing with some dishonest people. Either way Furry should go to Sheppard for a rebuild tranny, it would be more practical for the long run.

I just wanna let you know warranty can be either expressed or implied, which means it does not have to be in writing to be enforceable. Thus, you can ask dealership to follow the warranty they made on your synchros(?). However, it is highly possible that they will deny the responsibility and now you must make a decision between, your synchro or legal fees.
My Mitsubishi gives me the same "personal guarantee". Before I purchased my car, I made the salesman tell me it was ok to modify my car and it would still be covered under warranty.
But I know something will probably happen to my car down the line.. something unexpected and I am going to be in the same boat. The number one rule is you can't trust dealerships. You might get away with having something replaced once or twice, but thats about it. Sooner or later "stock" parts just aren't going to hold up if you keep making more and more horsepower. You have to fabricate something stronger, or get a custom engineered racing part.
I worked at a dealership and boy do they rip off regular customers when they get their car serviced. They change out parts that don't even need to be changed out, tell people something is wrong that isn't and on top of that, charge them top dollar for the part and labor. I only go into the dealership for warranty work, recalls, or if they are running a cheap oil change special when it is raining out and I don't feel like getting out in the rain under my car.
You could try to take them to court and make the guy admit he "personally promised" you work under warranty, or you could argue it out with the manager or owner. Before you argue, let them know you have a top notch lawyer ready to take your case, and he will win it. lol, scare them into doing warranty work.
Thats the advice I have for you.. hopefully everything is resolved without court. =/

This unbelievable. Why does mitsu suck? You say right out you didn't expect Mitsu corporate to warranty the car. So, that means your dealership sucks not mitsu.
I understand you being pissed about the dealership not living up to it's end of the agreement but, damn your making 440 whp. That's around twice what the factory parts are made to handle. Sh*t is gonna break or you need to learn how to shift. You've already had the factory parts replaced twice why did you think they would fare any better this time around. You have to pay to play. Magnussen- Moss my ***. "As soon as start increasing power your driveline warranty is out the window" right from my DR's mouth.

But, here again, I go back to my original point. Instead of being pissed, you approach him with a good alternative for both of you. Say, "What if we made a deal. I'll have someone else fix my tranny, you just cover the labor. I think that's best for both of us, considering the circumstances, wouldn't you agree?"
I'm 100% sure your synchros will go out again with the kind of power you have.

i suppose if you never miss a shift or you can rev match so well that you don't need to use the clutch or synchros then the added power won't matter. that's not the case for most of us.
I think I get it
Wow... only new 'ere, but this p155 funny.
Dude, sorry to hear your car broke. But the deal was, the (service mate)shop was going to hide the cost of the rings in your repair bill disguised as labour. He looks like a legend and you walk happy. But the thing has got into the system and some do-gooder has invoiced you as normal. Your mate, and if you stop running the trolly over him will still be your mate. Give him a chance - cos other than you he is the only person who gives a fat rats'
I think I could safely say, everyone here would be thinking "What trashes syncro rings"
Your dealer tried to do you a favour, it went pear shaped, BAD LUCK! Welcome to planet earth....
Funny thread though LOL
