Well, removing the spare and jack and tire iron and all that more than compensates for the little extra hardware, and I DOUBT it weighs more than 5lbs.

So can a can of fix-a-flat.

So would we be making this modification to change the front/rear weight bias of the Evo? If so, then I'd think that if you also removed the spare and jack, you would be offsetting most of the weight bias change created by mounting the battery in the trunk. ie...you remove the spare and jack from the trunk, reducing the weight of the rear...but then add that weight right back on by putting the battery there instead.

So if you are doing this (removing the spare, and moving the battery to the rear) to make the car lighter, ....but if you are doing it to change the 60/40 weight bias of the car, it won't make much diff.

If a car battery weighs around 45lbs a spare, jack, tire iron and hardware must equal to about that at least. Spare alone is probably 25lbs.

I was talking about the battery relocation kit weighing no more than 5lbs, not all that hardware (do I have a big 'moron' sticker on my forehead or something?). Someone previously had said the kit was probably adding 10-15lbs or something like that.

To clarify, moving the battery to the back while at the same time removing the spare/jack/iron from the back certainly doesn't do much for your front/rear weight distribution, but imagine if you took that stuff out of the back but left the battery in the front. Now you've moved the distribution more forward than it already was so moving the battery to the back pretty much keeps the distribution the same as stock while lessening total vehicle weight.
