Battery

Was just looking at the new C&D which clearly shows the battery being mounted in the front of the car. In 2 seconds that could be moved to the trunk for better weight distribution. Wonder why Mitsu didn't do this from the factory (cheap, no warranty issues, huge change in distribution, AND more room for cold air gizmos)? Comments?

Just wondering how 12-15 pounds can help weight distribution?

That's a thirty pound net change for the better and lower too, It would be a worthwhile mod. We need a vender with a affordable kit

A LEAD acid battery? That thing is more like 50 pounds. It is not uncommon for them to be in the trunk, BMW and the like have been doing it for years. M3's have 50 50 distribution (battery in back), and the EVO desparately NEEDS help with its 60 40.

Ok I doubt 50lbs. If so concerned relo a dry cell to the trunk, very easy and you don't have to worry about venting.

Oh I hear ya, make one. All you need are some posts and some mounting bracket. Run like a 2 or 0 Gague from front to rear and ground in the trunk. Easy mod. Someone will charge like $200 for a kit.

Moroso sell a battery box with vent (check Summit or someone like that), most modern batteries are sealed anyway. You need A very large guage cable, a 2guage (or so) and about 15ft of it assuming you can ground it it the back, something like that.

We need some one to corner weight the car and tell us which side to put it on

Kits are universal. Get one from Summit Racing with box for like 45 bucks.

W/ red box Part #SUM-G1199 $42.95.

Our Summit trunkmount battery kit has everything you need to move your battery: red polyethylene marine battery case, case straps, 20 ft. of positive cable with connectors, 3 ft. of negative cable with connectors, H-bar battery clamp, two rubber grommets, and cable straps. It's the easy way to transfer battery weight or clean up your engine compartment.
