BOV and Intake

I recently installed a new intake for my buddy who owns an evo and he now wants to put a BOV on it. What are the best choices for BOV and what do i need to install it? A new upper IC pipe? special flanges?? Anyone have ideas

it depends on the BOV.........APS, Turbosmart and the JDM MR take about 10 mins to install and if you do some searching you will find that this are the best ones for the EVO

i agree, The MR BOV will be easy to install and you will benefit from it instead of just hearing the sound. The mR BOV seems like it creates more boost at high gears. Just my two cents. Don't bother with and aftermarket BOV untill a new intercooler is in the budget.

could you explan you logic here???

you should only VTA if your not useing the MAF sensor and you should upgrade your VTI BOV when you are running higher the stock boost levels..

It is not possible for a BOV to create boost.

I do not see how a new intercooler is required for an aftermarket BOV.

Hi... this might be out of topic.
If you change your intake and bov is the warranty going to be void?
How about if i change it back to stock? are the dealer going to find out that i did change the intake and bov?

Thanks

the greddy type-s bov with bolt on flange...do the single spring mod and you're set. Installed mine in 15 mins. do some searches but i haven't had any issues with my setup and read a lot of good reviews on fully recirc and single spring mod. hope this helps

zeke1982, i think it depends on the dealer you are going to do warranty work at. you can always go back to stock so that you don't have to deal with hassle and i don't think they would be able to tell b/c they are all bolt on parts.

sorry, all i meant to say by that post was that for the money and the peformance the MR BOV works great for me. As far as the aftermarket intercooler, I meant to sy the piping because it looks much cleaner when the flange is welded to the piping.
I didn't mean to sputter out the wrong words.

I am running an MR BOV and Hallman MBC with the stock intake. I take it all off for my all of my dealership visits. (No I'm not shady, I'm just playing the same game they do.) There is no way for them to tell that you changed something out, unless you put it on wrong or something like that. You'll be fine taking it off. You may have a hard time with the MAS though.

zeke...i would look at some websites like edmunds and cars.com just to verify the balpark range that the evo with xxxxmiles would sell for from a private party. Also, just with my 05 evo the info states that the 10,000/10 yr. waranty is dropped to 5 yr/50,000 when transfered title. I don't know how the other model year waranties work, just something to maybe call a dealer to see how much warranty you will have, most cases the remaining warranty is just handed over to new owner.
I don't think you have to worry at all about an aftermarket stereo at all. that has no bearing on the engine/performance characteristics of the car and should not void anything. I've never had or heard of any issues there.
If you want to find stock parts to change back for dealer visits you can look on the private for sale forums, I've picked up a few parts there too
