Aftermarket CF hood with several cuts here and there should release the extra heat

One problem is that c/f is an excellent insulator, alumium acts as a wonderful heatsink. I have seen some very nice c/f hoods on cars but the thing that scares me about the ones that are actually lighter than stock is how unstable they become at speed, almost enough to justify hoodpins.

BUMP... Anyone have the EXACT weight of the Seibon OE hood? I am getting the trunk for weight reduction, and I dont want a cabon trunk lid and a painted hood.

Ricey... maybe but I really like the panda look.

If I HAD to change the hood, I'd go carbon, but if mine was fine I'd just leave it there.

What about the Fiber Images line of super lightweight race hoods and trunks. Hood weighs in at 8.6 lbs and trunk at 7 lbs. I've heard the OEM hood and trunk weigh in at around 22 lbs each. That is about 13 lbs lighter front and 14 lbs lighter rear. Depending on your application it could be worth the money. Does anyone have this brand of cf on their car?

Those are some impressive weights from Fiber Images if accurate.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Also, sounds like dry carbon and expensive.

The Robispec cf hood is a lot lighter than the stock hood.

I personally think Carbon Fiber looks incredibly cheesy on either interior or exterior. It's one thing to save weight by replacing something with it's CF counter part but I think the classy thing to do is paint it IMO. I see the whole 'Expose as much CF on my exterior" as a fad from a 3-5 years ago.

People are just now realizing how stupid it looks unpainted.

I had a Seibon CF hood and currently have CF fenders from Raceonusa. Both are slightly heavier than stock.

If you get dry CF you will save weight, but your wallet will be lighter too
