Plenty EVO VIII's on this dealership lot.

I ended up getting it for less than the $36,700 MSRP.

Looks like there will be plenty on the road this year as I already see a lot of EVO's out in the streets so far.
Is it me or is the dealer mark-up a rip off? The MR is about $42,000 the EVO VIII is $35,900 and the other EVO without the radio, wing, etc. is $28,500.

Anyways I eventually found a dealer in Florida, who found me one in Mississippi and one in North Carolina. I flew to Mississippi to pick up the car and drove it off the lot for $33,300
Was a great way to break in the motor - 2000 highway miles and (luckily) no speeding tickets
So basically, moral of the story is: California is wack, yo.
The dealership where I bought mine had 15 when I first went there. 2 of each color of VIII's (1 SSL, 1 not), a couple RS's and a couple MR's. They werent asking no $42k for the MR's though, I think they were asking $36k or something.
I was at a Mitsu dealership here in MA, and there was huge markup here as well. They had 3 evo's, 1 of each type... and each one marked up at least 2k. The *RS* was marked at 31k. I asked him the price, he told me, and I laughed.
I then proceded to ask him questions about the car, and he soon says... "to tell you the truth, I don't know much about the evo." I roll my eyes in my head and think to myself "no f*cking way! could have fooled me!"
And ya, they have the MR marked in the 40k area too.

I get jealous of you big city guys when I see the inventory at some of these dealerships! Sure the markup is stupid, but as long as you know invoice and MSRP, you should be able to work a deal between those numbers. Some people on these boards boast that they paid under invoice, and bully for them, but for most of us, I would say anything under MSRP is a pretty good deal. I had to order mine sight unseen. I'm still waiting for it to get here 3 weeks later. Somewhere on a transport somewhere in the US . . .

Yep I laughed when I stopped by the only
ripoff dealer on Oahu and picked up a oil filter. Tons of EVO's
A few customers looked at my EVO with the H.B.
frames and asked me if I brought it over and the salesman got mad at me.

Then another dealer here in San Diego wanted $1500 on top of MSRP to get one ordered for me from an unnamed dealer in NorCal (the car would never enter their inventory, it was $1500 for just doing paperwork). After the $46k deal I agreed to the $1500 markup, that is until they decided $1500 wasn't enough, now they wanted $3500. No way!

$26,900 + Fees in Central Cali! (purchased in Dec. of 2003 with C/F Spoiler and Sunroof)
Oh yeah....and 11 miles on it. It just came off the truck that afternoon.
My buddy picked his up for $27,100...same area.
I noticed the pictures are from the Hawaii store there known to mark up the cars tremendously. The is one guys who owns all three stores. I've sold several MR's and VIII's to people in Hawaii. Shipped it to them and they still saved thousands. These are the dealers that are killing the Mitsubishi Evo Market. People get tired of hasseling with the price and go to Subaru.

I work in the same auto mall as this dealer and these cars have been on the lot since atleast February and I don't expect them to sell anytime soon. The MR is an excellent car, but it's not worth 50k IMO.
