List All Your Evo Problems
34,000 miles. Clutch is still fairly strong but the Exedy twin is being installed tomorrow.
Front brake pads cracked @ 7k miles (warrentied)
Power steering pump @ 8500k miles (warrentied)
Only complains would have to be the cheap paint and lack of cruise control (which is probably a good thing).

@ 45k miles I've had no major problems
I just replaced the rotors/pads. Still on stock clutch etc.
I hate the cheap paint. My front end looks like it was hit by a sawed off shotgun

3K engine took a ****, had a factory defect bearing spun snapped a rod.
4K after getting my car back dealership tech didn't put new engine head on tight enough, ended warping my head and also had to install new turbo due to the damage from the first problem, The Tech Rep here blows a fat co.ck.
12K ECU Fuse blew living me stranded in the middle of an intersection while it was pouring rain. Changed fuse.
Besides those little humdingers Car is fantastic, and I love driving it everyday.

almost 18,000 miles and no major problems. Only problem was my windshield rattling in the winter. I took it to the dealer and they reset and resealed the windshield.
The only other problem I have with the evo is trying to keep under the speed limit.

Here are some common problems with the 2003 I've had with mine.
1) Paint chips away on the driver's side rocker panel (solution: clear 3M strip)
2) PO300 code (re-flash from Mitsubishi or transmission replacement if extreme)
3) Clutch
4) Brembo brake calipers clear coat peels (solution: re-paint or replaced)
Other problems that come up but haven't happened to me.
5) Spoiler peels/cracked if not protected (wax it up ... a lot)
6) Transfer case (use Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil)
7) Rust on the bumper support ends(?)
That's all I can think of right now.

After 30K miles:
- Intake hose blew off throttle body twice (I was running 23psi boost, though)
Otherwise perfect.
My only advice: budget for maintenance. You will spend a lot of $$$ on tires and general maintenance. If you are not a good stick driver and/or you like to drag race, budget $$$$ for a new clutch every 15K or less.
