I got my Evo VIII MR last week, monthly payments are $550, which isn't the worst.

I am 23 graduating in Dec, with BA construction management.

How much do i have to make an hour to safely pay for a evo9 pricing anywhere from 23-27k??? My credit is fine, never been in debt, never taken out a loan before. It would prolly be a 20k loan, as i have a few grand in bank. Not sure what kind of financing my bank is good for. Just rounded average of most banks.

Oh, and I still live at home. Just wondering what ballpark hourly pay.

im hoping $13 an hour full time would be enough?

$20k loan, 4 yrs, 7% interest = $478.92/month
$20k loan, 5 yrs, 7% interest = $396.02/month

I'll assume you're making your own car payments and insurance. Lets assume your insurance will be $150/month.

4 yrs loan + insurance = $628.92/month
5 yrs loan + insurance = $542.06/month

I'll assume now that you take home 70% of what you earn (after-tax, other deductions).

4 yrs loan + insurance = $5.62 per hour
5 yrs loan + insurance = $4.84 per hour

Ok, so now that sounds affordable, right? However, if you're making $13/hour, you're spending nearly half of your paycheck on your car payment and insurance. Now you add in gas, scheduled maintenance, tires, etc., and you're talking that your likely spending over half of every paycheck on your car alone. It may be affordable, but I wouldn't dare say it's fiscally responsible. You get in an accident? You're now spending $500 to fix your car. That's 55 hours of work just to pay your deductible.

I would suggest doing what people making $13/hour should be doing, and buying a car for much less money. With your wage, I would go so far to suggest you pay no more than $10k for a car (hopefully even less!).

It could be enough, just depends on what your priorities are. If you never buy clothes, eat, move out, save for retirement, save for emergencies, take vacations, etc., I'm sure you could make it work.
