dont you watch TV? havn't you heard those comercials "no credit no problem, no job no problem" LOL, shoot people with no job gets $100,000 platnium credit cards. I have seen a guy that works at fast food own an evo. something tells me his parents are not rich otherwise he would not be working, at least not there.
and im sure even a managers wage is not that great.
you just got to cut corners, eat light like soup every night, peanut butter jelly sandwiches for lunch, were same clothes for 6 years, no cable or cell phone, dont waste dollars on coffee and snacks. siphone gas out of your neighbors tank. pick up change off the ground. i dont know do what you gotta do i guess.

you can have a little bit of life, I managed to save around 5,000 by the time I graduated High School and I worked from 15-18, paper routes as 15-16 then fast food 17-18. but your right you do miss out a lot. but dang 5,000 at 18 is a lot of money to have at that age. If i can rewind time, i would have went to las vegas and spend every last dime on hookers for a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only other option I can see is that you put a down payment and financing the car.

I'm 21, and I bought a USED Evo. I'm an automotive tech and make ok money, but I don't pay rent. I live with my parents. No rent = Evo. I'm in the process of switching jobs so I'm low on money, but I'm trying to save up for my own place... :-/
